RTVE Play’s content continues to grow and the best news that could be given has come true: a new channel has been launched within the platform. This is dedicated to cinema and broadcasts, during its first weekend of life, 24 continuous hours of films so that we can enjoy all kinds of genres.

RTVE Play is enjoying a very solid mix of catalogue content, with quality streaming films and series, and channels available 24 hours a day. And, although what normally grows is the volume of content available on demand, now the platform is announcing the launch of a new channel that you can now watch as long as you want.

San Sebastian Film Festival Channel

We can’t think of a better theme than giving the San Sebastian Film Festival a channel to make it clear to viewers that you are going to broadcast films that have had a certain impact. In addition, obviously, promoting this type of important initiatives in Spain is part of RTVE’s commitment, so it makes perfect sense that they have chosen this theme. It comes with the aim of celebrating the 72nd edition of the Festival that has just begun.

The only bad news, though, is that it’s going to be a temporary channel. It’s available from September 20th to 29th, so if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to check it out. Also, if you’re interested, comments on social media always help to show platforms like RTVE Play that these types of initiatives are well received and that it would be interesting to have them available for longer. After all, a channel with movies 24 hours a day sounds really good.

What will the schedule be?

The first weekend is dedicated to cinema, with films one after another so that you always have something interesting to enjoy. However, we have been able to see that, at certain times, there may be short breaks with reports that take a look behind the scenes of the films being shown. In any case, for this first weekend, films that have been successful at the San Sebastian Film Festival itself will be shown, with titles such as Entre dos aguas, El rey de la Habana, El techo amarillo, Handía or Ane standing out.

Of course, there are many hours of programming, so you are going to find a lot of films. At the time of writing this, for example, they are showing El agua, a 2022 film that won several Goya awards.

The channels available on RTVE Play with the San Sebastian Film Festival

After this 24-hour film weekend, the channel dedicated to the San Sebastian Film Festival will change and offer a much more flexible programme. Viewers will be able to relive the festival’s opening galas that have had the greatest impact over the years, watch the Donostia Award galas and enjoy all kinds of programmes. It is important to mention that these galas include those starring big Hollywood actors such as Johnny Depp, Benicio del Toro or the legendary Danny De Vito, so they are sure to cause a lot of interest.

In addition, from Monday to Friday there will also be programmes dedicated to cinema, such as Dale al Play, Historia de nuestro cine or Días de cine, among others. And, as it could not be otherwise, the channel will make a good space for cinema so that we can continue watching quality films. Some of the titles that will be broadcast on the channel include productions such as Isla bonita, Las brujas de Zugarramurdi, Sentimental or Cinco lobitos. Therefore, we will have good entertainment to enjoy for days.
