If you want to share a photo with someone, you can do so in several ways. The most obvious way is to send a photo via WhatsApp or iMessage, but there are even more options. For example, you can easily share a photo via an iCloud link. This comes in handy, for example, if you want to share a photo with someone whose phone number you don’t have, but you do have an email address. It is also useful if you want to share multiple photos at once to multiple individuals. You then only have to send the link to everyone, without having to select the photos over and over again.

Share photos and videos via an iCloud link
Sharing photos and videos is easy. That is how it works:
- First of all, make sure iCloud Photos is turned on. This is a requirement to be able to share a photo via a link. To do this, go to Settings > your name > iCloud > Photos and turn on the switch for iCloud Photos.
- Open the Photos app and choose the photo you want to share. You can also select multiple photos at the same time via the Select button at the top right.
- Tap the share button and select Copy iCloud link.
- The link has now been copied into your clipboard. Send it to the person you want to share the photo with by pasting the link into your conversation.
The link goes to an iCloud website where you can view and download the photo. The link is usually provided with a date on which the photo was taken, possibly including location. Since the photos are on a website, you can view them anytime, anywhere as long as you have the link and an internet connection. Each time you repeat the steps above, a new link will be created. The photos can be viewed and downloaded via the link for thirty days.
This way is extra useful if you want to share a complete album with several people, because you only have to upload the photos once. Sharing the link to all contacts is then sufficient. You can also create a shared iCloud album if everyone uses Apple.
Stop sharing images with iCloud link
Want to stop sharing a photo or video with a link early? Which can! The photos and videos can then no longer be retrieved via the shared link. This works as follows:
- After sharing, open the Photos app.
- Tap For you in the menu bar.
- Scroll to the iCloud links heading and tap the photo/video in question.
- To stop sharing, tap the three dots at the top right and choose Stop sharing. You can also copy the link again here.
