The most used phone operating system in the world is Android. Although different mobile manufacturers use different layers of customization, the basic functions are more or less the same. Therefore, if you have problems charging your Android device, this article may help you solve it.

Regardless of whether you have a Samsung, Xiaomi or Google smartphone, the operating system is the same. There may be some changes in the sections available in configuration or similar, but almost all of them allow access to the same functions.

Thanks to having software that is based on the same base, the solutions to various problems are practically identical. For this reason, if you are looking to solve errors when charging the phone, in the following lines we show you possible solutions on Android.

Why is your Android phone not charging?

Before finding a solution, it is important to ask yourself the possible reason why the device is not charging. It is not the same that the problem is in the hardware than in the software.

In the first case, the fault could be found in the charging port. Accumulated dirt or a small break would be enough to make charging the device difficult.

If it is an error related to the operating system, it may be due to overheating or having too many apps open. This usually doesn’t happen, but you should keep it in mind.

It may also be the case that the charging problem is not related to the device itself. Sometimes a faulty charger or a non-working power outlet makes it impossible for us to fill the smartphone battery.

How to clean the charging port

One of the possible reasons that make it difficult for a phone to charge is that the charging port does not fulfill its function. If it is broken, we will have to take it to an establishment with a repair service. But if it’s just dirty, you’ll just need to clean it.

To do this, it is advisable to first turn off the device. Then, with a toothpick, try to remove all the dirt accumulated inside. The ideal is to do it delicately and in circular movements, so as not to introduce the dirt inside or damage the port.

Finally, inspect the hole well with a flashlight or the flash of another cell phone to check that it is completely clean. All that’s left to do is try to load it again.

Prevents the mobile from overheating

When you see that your phone is not charging, one of the first things you will have to check is that it is not very hot. If you are in an environment with high temperatures (either due to heating or because it is summer) or you are using your phone too much, there may be problems when trying to charge the battery.

In these cases, it is advisable to turn off the device and take it to a place with normal temperatures (not too high or too low). In this way, you will resolve charging failures due to overheating.

Restart your phone

If there is any problem with a device, an advisable action is to restart it. This can also help if your Android won’t load.

To restart the phone, you just have to press the lock button for a few seconds. You will be given two options: turn off or restart. Choose the second one.

Once the device restarts, it will ask you to enter your SIM number. So make sure you know or have the card that came with the SIM on hand.

When you restart your smartphone, it will delete any apps open in the background that may be causing complications.

Check the health of your battery

In the Play Store, there are different applications that allow you to check the battery status. For example, we have Battery Health – Snow Battery, Electron: battery health info and Battery Guru: Battery Health.

Through them, you can detect the health of your battery. If it is not good, you should consider changing it for a new one at a repair store.

Put the phone in safe mode

Safe mode is a type of diagnostic for devices with the Android operating system that disables third-party apps. That is, this function means that the mobile only allows you to use the applications and services that are pre-installed at the factory.

If your smartphone has battery life issues, activating safe mode can help you find the reason. If the problems persist, there may not be an easy solution; but if it allows you to load it this way, you may have a harmful app that you should uninstall.

Is the fault unrelated to the phone?

As we already said at the beginning of this article, the reasons for charging problems on Android may not have to do with the smartphone itself. It is possible that the cable, adapter or even the power outlet is the reason why the battery is not filling.

Try charging the phone from another outlet and with other chargers to check. In this case, the problem would not have to do with the mobile phone itself.
