Platforms to find accommodation at the best price, such as AirBnB or Booking, can be a very good option to save money on a trip. However, there may be more affordable proposals. The Google Chrome extension we are talking about today will tell you when there is a cheaper alternative.
Finding the ideal vacation accommodation is not an easy task. To find an option adapted to our budget, we usually resort to comparators or websites that bring together several proposals in the same space. In exchange, they force us to pay a small management fee.
Sometimes, it is possible to reserve a room from the hotel’s own website. This tends to be a more affordable alternative, which allows us to save the costs of search platforms. To know when this option exists, you just have to install a Chrome extension called ‘Direct – Travel Offers – Save Commissions’.
The extension is available in the Chrome Web Store browser extension store. Find it and click ‘Add to Chrome’ to enable it on your computer. Once done, a tab will open that explains how it works.
It is also possible to find the extension from Google’s own search engine. In this case, just enter ‘Direct extension’ and the first result will be the one we will have to click on.
How the extension works
To ensure that the extension is always active when you search hosting pages, it is important to pin it. The process to do it is very easy:

- Search through your extensions and locate the newly installed one. Next to their name, you will see a thumbtack icon. Press it.
- By doing so, you will have already pinned the extension and it will always be active.
With ‘Direct – Travel Offers – Save Commissions’, users can find out when they can save commission on hotels and vacation rentals from different websites. According to its developers, their service can be used on AirBnB, Booking, Vrbo, Abritel and Expedia, and they intend to reach more sites.
Once you have set the extension, you will only have to perform a search indicating the destination and dates on which you want to travel on one of the mentioned pages. When doing so, if it can be booked from the hotel’s own website, the extension will tell you about it. As? With the extension logo (it is a black letter ‘D’ on a yellow background).
This logo will be displayed right in one corner of the offer. When you hover over it, the extension will tell you that you can find a better deal. To do so, click and a new tab will open with the hotel website. There are times when the price is the same, but, in general, they tend to lower their price with the aim of encouraging tourists to pay through their website instead of Booking and the like.
In reference to privacy, ‘Directo-Travel Offers -Arrora Commissions’ declares that it manages user activity to find the best offers. However, they ensure that they do not sell data to third parties (except in use cases approved by the Internet user themselves). Under no circumstances do they transfer the information for purposes not related to the main function of the extension or to determine the credit situation or offer loans.
