The launch of the Google Pixel 9 is just around the corner. It will be presented in mid-August and will possibly be launched shortly after. While we wait to hear about the brand’s new generation of smartphones, some of its specifications have been leaked.

Several details about the Pixel 9 family have been revealed. This is usually the case when highly anticipated technological product launches approach, and Google’s phones are no exception.

According to Android Authority, a media outlet known for its leaks, we will have four models in this new generation. The Pixel 9, which will be the most normal and affordable, the Pixel 9 Pro, the 9 Pro XL and the 9 Pro Fold (foldable).

Google Pixel 9 specifications

What is known about the Google Pixel 9

Although we still have almost a month to go before we know everything about the Pixel 9, it’s clear that Google is almost ready. The most basic version of its new generation of smartphones will be the cheapest. But that doesn’t mean that the features it will bring aren’t spectacular.

Android Authority has learned from anonymous sources familiar with the matter that the new display will be 6.24 inches, slightly larger than the 6.2″ version 8. It will also have 1,800 nits compared to the Pixel 8’s 1,400 nits HDR brightness.

As for the resolution, it will be similar: it will go from 1,080 x 2,400 to 1,080 x 2,424. And the refresh rate remains at 120 Hz, something that is repeated in the rest of the models, no matter how expensive they are.

The details of the Google Pixel 9 Pro

On the other hand, if you prefer to go for the Pixel 9 Pro, it will be more expensive and is the one that has the fewest differences with the basic model. However, you will notice slight changes that make it a more premium option to consider if you have a bit more budget.

The screen size is 6.34 inches. They have reduced its dimensions compared to the Pixel 8 Pro, 6.71″, and it seems that it is because they wanted to release an XL model. Beyond its size, it has a higher resolution, 1,280 x 2,856, and its HDR brightness is no more and no less than 2,050 nits.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL rumors

As its name suggests, the big leap that distinguishes the Pixel 9 Pro from the XL is its size. The screen measures 6.73 inches, something difficult to see on mobile phones. Aside from the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, it is rare to find a premium smartphone of such dimensions. In fact, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 6.7″.

If we focus on its resolution, it is better than the other versions, with 1,344 x 2,992. But the HDR brightness of its screen is exactly the same as the Pixel 9 Pro model, at 2,050 nits.

And what is known about the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold?

Google is also expected to announce its new foldable device alongside the rest of the Pixel 9 family. Android Authority has advance some of the details what is expected from this smartphone whose screen can be more or less large depending on the use we want to give it.

For its next foldable phone, Google has abandoned the Galaxy Z Fold 6 idea, which consists of getting wider without being particularly long. The company wants to change this design for a practically square one, capable of offering a resolution of 2,152 x 2,076. Although when folded it will have a more typical 1,080 x 2,424.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Android Authority also reports a significant increase in size. Compared to the original Pixel Fold’s 7.6 inches, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s internal display is expected to reach 8″ wide. If it’s not opened, it will have more conventional dimensions of 6.24 inches.

Another prediction that we’ll be able to confirm (or not) when Google unveils this phone in mid-August is its 1,600-nit display when unfolded. And when folded, it can reach 1,800 nits. This HDR brightness far exceeds the original Fold, which had just 1,000-1,200 nits.
