It seems that there is no turning back and the path forward is more than decided: advertisements are the main appeal of streaming platforms to raise prices. This has been established by well-known applications such as Netflix and Disney+, which add a subscription plan with advertising as a lure to set new amounts. Amazon Prime Video is the next to do so, and the date it has chosen is closer than we think.
The trend of introducing ads in streaming applications is resonating in all corners of the world. If at the beginning of this year it was already tested in territories such as the United States, now Prime Video has done the same in the rest of the countries, gradually. Is there a way to bypass advertising content? The truth is that yes, but we will have to dig deeper into our pockets a little more.
Prime Video welcomes the plan with ads
To notify all its customers, Amazon has started sending emails to alert them of the new change in prices and conditions. April 9 is the stipulated date to implement the subscription plan with ads. From that day on, all users who have a subscription with Amazon Prime Video will see several advertising spots reflected throughout the catalog offered by this entertainment center.
As can be seen in the body of the message with the subject “An update on Prime Video”, the marketplace will include limited advertising in its streaming service. This means that we can participate in viewing advertisements both at the beginning and at the end of the movie, series or documentary that we are watching at that precise moment.
However, it is very likely that advertising interrupts the content we are watching, appearing in the middle of the episode of a series, for example, as happens in memberships with Netflix and Disney+ ads.
The reason for implementing the new pricing policy is also written in the email. As we see in the text, “this will allow us to continue investing in attractive content, and continue increasing that investment in the long term and thus maintain the quality and quantity of the content on Prime Video.” However, Amazon assures that fewer ads will be broadcast than those on traditional DTT television and other streaming services.
How to avoid ads?
After this sudden situation, is there any alternative to not having to see advertising content? The answer is yes. Amazon has enabled a new website that redirects users to continue watching the entire Prime Video lineup on demand without ads, with a supplement of 1.99 euros per month.
In addition, you can request this purchase from today, so that you will not be charged the first payment until April 0. Your subscription will automatically renew and you can cancel it at any time.
Finally, it should be noted that the subscriptions you have to channels, live TV and Freevee will continue to have ads, so you will have to purchase the extra 1.99 euros to enjoy a much cleaner interface.
