Users used to use YouTube on television are going to have a surprise, since the video platform has decided to introduce an important change. It is about the elimination of the guest profile, something for which, however, for now there is a solution that you can apply. We explain what you can do.
Google has decided to withdraw the function of the invited profile available in the YouTube application for Smart TV and television devices such as the Amazon Fire TV. He has done so unexpectedly, since there are still many people who wonder the reason that could be found behind this decision. After all, it is not something that seems to have a lot of logic.
Pressing to create accounts
It is unquestionable that, to enjoy YouTube in the best possible way, it is best to have your own user account. In doing so and identify, you are getting access to your favorite videos list, your reproduction history, notifications and much more. But it is also true that, although we are very accustomed to identifying ourselves on the computer and on the mobile, sometimes on television we do not do it so often. In some cases, for example, if we use YouTube only to watch musical videos, we do not see much need to identify. Therefore, the guest mode was really useful for those moments.
From YouTube they have begun to withdraw it and its disappearance will be progressive on all devices. At the moment, it has ceased to be available in Apple TV, Roku terminals, on some smart TV and at the Amazon Fire TV, although it is to imagine that the disappearance will be progressive. Therefore, if this change has not yet received you, most likely you end up suffering it before or later.
What is the available solution?
At the time the option to enter guest mode disappears, the YouTube application will only let you identify with your account, add a new account or change to a YouTube Kids profile. Luckily, there is another additional button that will be, in this case, the solution to which we are going to resort. This button is at the bottom and has the name of “Use the disconnected app.” Interestingly, if we press it, what YouTube will do will proceed to open the guest mode.
Thus, the “Welcome” message will appear and put under “loading guest mode”. This is where the situation becomes quite confusing, since it is strange to know what is happening exactly taking into account that the guest mode is mentioned. It is possible that Google has not had the opportunity to update the text or that you are also thinking of eliminating this ability to use youtube disconnected from the profile. It should not be ruled out that they end up changing it and that, at one point, the only way to use YouTube on television is identifying us with a user account.
It would not be something that surprised us in view that, in recent times, it has been proven that YouTube tries to look for methods to use the service with account above all. For example, long ago recommendations stopped appearing in the event that we entered the username tool. That leads to, upon entering, the only thing that appears is a blank page and the search engine, as in the image above, where we can start looking for the videos that we want to see. In a way, it makes a lot of sense that Google is opting for this policy with access to YouTube, but it is still a bit annoying that the guest mode remains on the way.
