Yesterday, the Tax Agency began serving taxpayers in person at the offices. Meanwhile, checks are being carried out on the submitted returns and if any anomalies are detected, letters and notifications are being sent to review the submitted return.

On July 1, the Tax Agency will conclude the current 2023 Income campaign. Since the tax organization gave the starting signal until today, it states that it has already returned more than 6 billion euros to 8.6 million taxpayers. Until now, the declaration could be submitted both electronically and by telephone. However, yesterday the in-person campaign was also inaugurated and during the coming weeks, the Treasury technicians will receive in the offices all those who have chosen to go in person to the offices to confirm the draft.

During these days, in addition, “Nearly 80,000 letters will be sent (…) to taxpayers who have submitted their declaration modifying the information provided by the Agency”. The objective pursued through this action is to help the taxpayer to prevent possible errors and omissions that could ultimately translate into a financial penalty.

Preventive notices to taxpayers

Although postal mail will mainly be used, it has also been reported that said communication will be accompanied by notifications on the Income Tax Web and in the Income Tax application. In the event that we receive one of these notices, it will not always be because a punishable error has been detected. It will be the taxpayers who value “whether or not they should present a complementary declaration adapting to the information available to the AEAT”.

The ATax agency will give the option to preventively correct any declaration whose presentation differs from the data that the Treasury has in its database. In this way, the objective is to avoid a possible “subsequent verification by the AEAT” that, in addition to the pertinent penalty, also carries the corresponding interest.

However, it has also been reported that taxpayers who receive this type of communications will not be required to make a complementary declaration. If you consider that the changes made to the data held by the Treasury are correct, communication can be omitted and it will not be necessary to make any type of rectification.

Simplified procedures

The Tax agency has also reported that this year a redesign has been carried out in the navigation of Renta Web and the application. When correcting a declaration or submitting a complementary one, we will only have to modify the amounts that are considered erroneous. Next, we will mark the declaration on which we want to print the pertinent changes and the system will carry out the rest of the actions that are necessary to be able to carry out the pertinent presentation.

Furthermore, if we have been one of the taxpayers who has received the corresponding notification, the Web Rental System It will offer us the modification with all the data already incorporated. We will only have to accept them and present the declaration, as long as we agree with the proposed modifications. Therefore, the improvement comes not only based on the development of the strategy to be able to preventively warn consumers, but also when transferring this notice to the corresponding declaration.
