This is how I managed to change my computer thanks to O2, saving me almost 100 euros

In recent years, telephone operators have been completing their product catalogues, offering us interesting options that go beyond mobile phones, such as computers or tablets. In the case of O2, for example, we can buy a 13-inch MacBook Air at a cheaper price than if we bought it from Apple itself. We tell you.

When we consider change our smartphone or our laptop for a newer model, it is recommended that we consult all the options that exist on the internet to find the best possible price based on our needs. In many cases, the best offers do not always come from the most common stores and we can find them by consulting, for example, our telephone operator.

This is the case of O2. In addition to having different mobile models in its catalog, we can also find very interesting offers on computers. The best example is found in the MacBook Air 13” with M2 processor. Apple’s RRP for the model that has 8GB + 256 GB of storage is €1,199, while in the case of O2, The price amounts to €1,296, But we are going to go into detail to see how we can save up to 100 euros.

The financing option

O2 offers us great flexibility when it comes to buy your devices. We can finance them in 24, 36 and 48 months. In the case of the MacBook to which we have referred, O2 offers us three installments according to each of the previously mentioned terms: 54, 36 and 27 euros per month. Regardless of the number of installments we end up opting for, the final price of the computer will always be 1,296 euros, as we have already mentioned.

In the case of Apple, although its price without financing is lower, the same does not happen if we need to pay for the computer in installments. In this case, as stated on the bitten apple company’s website, we will have to assume interest of 16.02% APR. Therefore, the price of the computer varies depending on the installments to which we commit. If we do a simulation, we can see the differences between both options.

Comparing prices

If we take as the amount to finance the price of the computer at Apple, we will have to do the calculation based on 1,199 euros. If we opt for 12-month financing, the total cost of the MacBook taking into account taxes will be €1,298.30. So far, the price is very similar to O2.

However, if we need to expand the number of installments, the O2 option wins considerably over Apple. To the split the price into 24 installmentsthe total for the computer amounts to €1,394, almost 100 euros more than what we find on the blue operator’s own page.

If we choose to increase the number of installments even further, because we want to pay a little less money per month, the total with interest in 36 installments would be 1,495.24 euros. We remember that in the case of O2, the final price of the computer will always be the same, regardless of the number of installments we choose. Therefore, it offers us extra flexibility.

As we have seen, if we can assume the cost of a product like the MacBook Air M2 in a single payment, Apple’s option is more profitable. However, if we prefer to choose to pay it comfortably in different installments, O2 offers us much cheaper alternatives and customizable, since extending the number of installments does not affect the final price of the device. An option to consider in the event that we are interested in replacing our computer and we do not want to assume a large amount of money.
