This is how you can listen to websites in Chrome as if they were podcasts with this new feature

For years, when we need to know the data stored on a particular web page, we enter its corresponding URL in the browser, for example in Chrome, and start reading. But times move forward and the functions available in these programs are increasingly better for the user experience.

We are telling you all this because we do not always have the opportunity to read the data that interests us on that website at that moment. That is precisely why many current browsers have a function that allows us to listen to the transcription of the texts aloud. This can be very helpful both on desktop computers and on mobile devices.

This is an increasingly common trend in many programs in this software sector and is used by many users on a daily basis. This way, they can receive the information contained on a certain page without having to pay attention to the browser itself. However, now the leader in the sector, Google Chrome, wants to go one step further with a new integrated function.

The Android version of the search giant’s popular program has had this reading function since the beginning of this year. This means that we can listen to the text content of websites without any problem while we browse with our mobile. But now Google itself is testing a new function that aims to take this feature one step further.

With this new feature, the search giant hopes to make listening to web pages spoken aloud even more useful and productive for the user.

This is how to listen to websites in Chrome for Android

The first thing we need to take into consideration is that this is a feature that is currently in the testing phase, although it is expected to be available to everyone soon. Specifically, it will allow us to listen to the texts of any website we access from Chrome on Android, but without having to have the screen on.

This means that we will have the opportunity to listen to these contents in the background, for example, while we are walking and have our mobile phone in our pocket.

So, we could say that thanks to this feature, Google Chrome’s aloud reading would be similar to the way we currently use podcasts. It should be noted that until now it was mandatory to have the screen in view while listening to its content or transcription. Until now, while listening to the content of a website, we did not have the possibility of changing applications or turning off the screen, as the transcription would stop. But this is going to change soon.

Once the experimental feature Google is working on reaches all Android-based devices, we will be able to load the page, activate the reading function, turn off the screen and put the phone in our pocket. This way we will be able to listen to this content out loud, for example, while we exercise or walk without having to hold the phone in our hand.

It is worth mentioning that this is something we have been able to do for some time now in the desktop version.
