In the summer months, to try to cope with the high temperatures, we can use different devices. There are two that are very present: the air conditioning and the fan. If we talk about saving energy, trying to spend as little as possible, the second is undoubtedly ideal. In this article we are going to tell you what you should take into account when choosing a fan and thus be able to spend less on the electricity bill each month.

Although a fan may not be comparable to an air conditioner, that does not mean that it is not a good option in many cases. Simply by moving the air, even if the temperature is still high, we can already have greater comfort when we are at home in the hottest months.

How to choose a fan

Without going into all the features that we can find, we are going to talk specifically about which ones we are interested in in order to pay less on the electricity bill. What we are looking for is to choose a fan that consumes little energy and thus be able to keep it on for many hours without worry.

Power

Power is a determining factor when choosing a fan with savings in mind. The higher the power, the more force it will have and, therefore, the higher the consumption will also be. Do you need a fan only for a table, for a small room or for a large room? That will determine how much power you will need.

The smaller the space you need to refresh, the less power you will need. Therefore, choose the fan well thinking about the power it may have and that will help you save on the bill. Normally, a fan will have between 60 and 100 W of power. There are even 30 W ones, so you can choose a smaller one if it is enough for you.

different speeds

It is also interesting that it has different speeds or levels. This means that you will be able to adjust two or more speeds so that it throws out more air. The higher the speed you choose, the higher the consumption will also be. It will always be adjusted to that power that we have mentioned.

Why is it useful to have multiple speeds? You will not always need the same amount of air. Maybe the temperature is more or less pleasant and you just want it to move the air a little, while another hot day you may need to move it more quickly.

Energetic certification

This is something you can see in virtually any device you buy today. It is a certification that helps to know if that appliance is efficient or not. It is a label where a letter appears. The A is the most efficient, so buying a fan of this type would be the most convenient to save energy. Later it is followed by B, C and so on.

Logically, the price of the device is not the same for a highly efficient fan as for another that is not. The materials, the manufacturing processes to reach that efficiency, provide an added value that must be paid for.

size and format

This point is also important. You will find fans for the ceiling, standing, for a table, portable… There are many options and of all of them you will find devices that consume more or less. You must choose which format interests you the most, depending on where you are going to locate it and what you need.

The ideal is to choose a model that adapts well to the area where you are going to put it, that is modern and has features that help to use less electricity. The objective, in our case, is to try to lower the electricity bill.

Therefore, as you can see, you can take all this into account to buy a fan with the aim of making it more efficient and saving light. You will find many options available, so you should take a good look at which one is best for you and thus avoid problems.
