Using the air conditioning well is key to maintaining a pleasant temperature at home in summer, but also to saving energy. It is a device that can consume a lot, especially when we make mistakes when using it. Therefore, in this article we are going to talk about something very specific that can help you cool your home better, but also save some energy to pay less on the bill each month. We are going to explain how to orient the air vents.

Have you ever wondered if it is better to point the air conditioner up, near the ceiling, or point it down? There is an important difference and, as you will see, it can help you better maintain the temperature of a room. This will mean that you can set it for less time or you will not need to set a lower temperature, which will help you save energy.

How to put the air vents

The split or indoor air unit can be oriented in different ways. From the command itself, you can make the grids be oriented to a fixed position or move. You can make it point more towards the ceiling or in front, but also towards the bottom. For example, maybe you are sitting at a table below and decide to aim there. Is it a good choice?

The truth is that this is a mistake. At least it is if what you want is to set the whole room and optimize resources to the maximum. Why do we say this? Ideally, the louvers should be oriented toward the top of the room. Cold air tends to go down, while hot air, due to its density, will go up.

If you point it up, towards the ceiling, the cold air will be better distributed throughout the room. It will fall through the different areas and will reach the desired temperature sooner. On the other hand, if you aim at a fixed place, at the bottom, you will limit the operation of the air. You will need more resources to cool the entire room first.

Therefore, it is best that you place it pointing towards the top of a room. It does not mean that it does not cool well if you point it directly at you, at a table, but in the latter case you will consume more resources to reach the desired temperature. It is better, to set the whole room, point up.

Use the air well

Beyond aiming the vents correctly, you should also use the air conditioning well. By this we mean, for example, adjusting the temperature well. Don’t set it too low, as you don’t really need it. An ideal temperature is considered to be between 24 and 26 degrees. You may be fine during the day at 24-25, but at night you can even raise it to 26. Each degree can make you spend or save about 7%.

You shouldn’t turn it off and on a lot either. This will cause the temperature to lose and have to be constantly running at higher power to recover it. The best thing is that you use it when you need it and do not turn it off simply because you are going to leave the house for a few minutes. In addition, those that are inverter will consume even less.

In short, as you can see, it is key to use the air conditioning well. Something you can do is orient the grills well, to correctly acclimatize a room and reach the desired temperature. Adjust the degrees well and avoid turning the device on and off a lot, since that will trigger consumption.
