WhatsApp groups are a nightmare, especially when there are a lot of them, although they are the best way to be in contact with a certain group of people (we are not referring to friends), with school and community WhatsApp groups being a clear example of their usefulness.
Although it is true that WhatsApp includes a function within the application’s configuration options so that no one outside our contact list can invite us to a group, very few people use it, because they do not want to be left out of a group without first knowing if it can be useful to them. It is not necessary to remember that curiosity is a need of humans and animals to discover and learn about the world around them.
Oddly enough, WhatsApp seems to be somewhat concerned about this issue and has just announced a new feature so that users who are automatically included in WhatsApp groups know the origin and the reason why they have been added when it comes to people who are not among our contacts.
Improvements to WhatsApp group chats
According to WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart, via his WhatsApp channel, the company is working on implementing a new feature, context cards that will be displayed when we receive an invitation to a WhatsApp group and/or when we are included in a group.
This card will show the date the group was created, a description of its main activity, and the name of the person who created the group. It will also show whether the person who created the group is in your contacts and whether the person who invited you is also in your contacts (not necessarily the same person).
According to Catchcart, this new feature offers additional information when we receive an invitation, as it allows us to know, without having to log in, who invited us and if we have mutual friends, making it easier to accept the invitation without having to log in to investigate and then leave.
From that same information card, the user can block or leave the group through the security functions and even report it to WhatsApp.
This new feature will begin to reach users in the coming weeks, so we still have to wait a little longer to start using it, a feature that is activated by default and that we will not be able to deactivate.
These information cards are added to the functions previously introduced on the platform to silence calls from unknown numbers and control who can and cannot add us to groups.
As WhatsApp has become the most used communications service, above phone calls, the Meta Group platform has been forced to add measures to reduce the increasingly present SPAM and this new function is added to the long list of options.
