We make all kinds of Internet uses comfortably from home, including online shopping to which we have little by little become accustomed. We even buy tickets for events such as music concerts, plays, going to the movies, and much more.
So much so that at this moment we can make use of one of the many websites specialized in this type of online commerce. We are referring to various platforms, both from certain companies and more general ones, that offer us the possibility of purchasing these tickets through our mobile phone or PC.
We only have to provide a series of information and make the payment in order to have our digital tickets that we show when attending the event in person. However, as happens in many other platforms and modes of operation over the Internet, here we must also be alert. And on certain occasions we can come across some scams that will make us lose our money when making these purchases that we are talking about.
Buying tickets online has become common in recent times. Hence, attackers are developing new techniques to get our money without us receiving anything in return. Therefore we should be vigilant to avoid this type of malicious actions. Below we will talk about some of the most common scams in this specific type of purchase.
Avoid being scammed when buying tickets online
Sometimes we can buy these tickets on the festival’s own website, on the website of the cinema, or the theater in question. Although there are also some generalist pages that offer us this type of purchases for multiple events. But in no case are we free from scams, these are some of the most common.
Fake web pages. We can come across certain online websites that seem original or totally reliable but are false. They offer us a series of tickets that we pay for when they are really scamming us and we will never receive anything.
Suspicious entries. It may also happen that we buy a ticket and receive it in the usual way. However, it may be an item that was originally acquired using some type of deception or was simply stolen. Hence the original owner can file a claim and from then on the responsibility will be ours. What’s more, it may happen that when we try to use the entry, it has been marked as invalid. There are also cases in which the same ticket is sold to many people.
Scams in the payment process. We should always use secure payment methods or PayPal-type platforms when making these purchases. Many scammers ask us for an advance or pay through little-known platforms to keep our money, something we should avoid at all costs.
Be careful with non-existent entries. Sometimes we can find certain sellers who claim to have tickets for a certain event, but that is false. Here they will try to convince us that we have a legitimate ticket by sending us fake images. They can also promise to deliver it later once payment has been made. We must always ensure that the entry is legitimate and never pay in advance.
