The Indian brand does not stop generating information about new models. There are the Himalayan 411 Scram, Classic 350, Hunter 350, Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650… To prove it. Not in vain, not only do they want to maintain their dominant position in their country of origin, but also their international projection is increasing.
Well, according to the registration of a new patent, of which we have learned through the motorbeam website, a new 650 called Constellation is going to be developed.
In this way, the name of an iconic sports model for Royal Enfield (Constellation 700), which was marketed in the USA between 1958 and 1963, is recovered. A motorcycle that at that time announced reaching 177 km/h, and that stood as a serious rival for the best sports of the time.
Basically its engine was the sum of two single cylinders from the 350 Bullet, and it was equipped with a telescopic fork and double rear shock absorber. For her, 36 CV of maximum power were declared and its initial displacement, 692 cc, would go to 736 cc before ceasing its production.
The future Constellation will have the same base as the current Continental and Interceptor 650, thus closing a complete circle where many styles with exactly the same platform will be found. From a trail bike, the Himalayan 650; to a sports car, the Constellation. Going through the classic Super Meteor, or the Bobber Shotgun, both mentioned above.
The new model, animated by Royal Enfield’s 47 hp parallel twin, is expected to arrive in late 2023 or early 2024. The rest of the firm’s “six and a half” models will arrive before that. So we will have to wait to see rolling “up there in the firmament”the future Constellation.
