In the last edition of Daytona Bike Week we had the opportunity to observe for the first time the next asphalt maxitrail or high displacement crossover of the American brand, which, if we stick to its aesthetics, is inevitably reminiscent of a motorcycle of the brand that we saw light over a decade ago…
And it is that the Buell Super Turing 1190, which will be available not before 2025, looks like an updated reissue of the well-known Buell XB12X Ulysses from 2006, which we remember was equipped with an air-cooled Harley-Davidson Thunderstorm 1203 V2 engine.
That was not the most charismatic model of the brand nor with much commercial success: the BMW R 1200 GS was eating up the market, and the Buell, heavier and less powerful, was not a rival.
. His were different motorcycles, which based on a Harley Davidson engine had a very particular design. Very short between axles, they counteracted the high weight of the engine with great agility. They were fun bikes, although not especially effective, and their character was very strong. So much so that many unconditional followers of the brand were born. Erik Buell’s proposals came to an end in 2009, the year in which the production of the North American brand ended.
Over the years, we’ve looked forward to the return of Buell under the name EBR (Erik Buell Racing). The brand was refounded, indeed, but under the direction of Bill Melvin. With Erik, who has not been part of the board of directors for a long time, dedicated to the development of his electric motorcycles with his company Fuell.
Now Buell Motorcycle is based in Michigan – formerly Wisconsin – and we know it aims to bring up to 10 different models into production in a couple of years. All of them based on the Rotax V-Twin engine at 72º of 1,190 cc with 185 HP and 138 Nm of torque. We have already told you about the Hammerhead 1190, the 1190 SX, the Baja Dune enduro or the upcoming 1190 Super Cruiser developed in collaboration with Ronald Sans Desing.
And returning to the motorcycle in question, the Buell Super Touring 1190 equips the engine and chassis with internal tank of the rest of the models of the house. In addition to equipping perimeter front disk. In this sense, it would be interesting to see how ABS has been fitted to this brake setup. For the rest, the Super Touring, with the undeniable air of the Buell XB12X Ulysses, has a very touring equipment. For example, a raised screen, a wide and comfortable seat for the two occupants, and some aluminum suitcases with a strong adventurous touch.
