Gran Turismo 7, now available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, was presented in style with an event held at the Jarama that, like some of the most legendary races in the world of motorsports, lasted twenty-four hours. Here are the highlights of a show in which there was everything: an endurance race between the best players in Spain, round tables, real driving on the asphalt, conversations with influencers…
Gran Turismo 7 has now been released for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It was one of the most anticipated milestones of this start of the year, and to celebrate the launch an impressive 24-hour launch event was held, lasting worthy of endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Nurburgring or the Spa-Francorchamps.
In addition, the show was held in one of the most iconic motor venues in Spain: Jarama. The Madrid circuit hosted one of the most spectacular events ever seen in our country to accompany the premiere of a video game.
In case you missed it, now Sony has published this video, which summarizes the best moments of that legendary day. Do not stop watching it, and then we continue commenting on everything that was experienced in the event:
A celebration in style
The event began last Thursday, March 3 at eight in the afternoon and lasted until the same time on Friday the 4th, which coincided with the premiere of Gran Turismo 7, a long-awaited game, since more than four years had passed since the launch of GT Sport and more than eight since the release of GT6. The occasion deserved a celebration to match!
With a format worthy of the best television broadcast, throughout those twenty-four hours dozens of well-known figures paraded through a set.
Thus, there were numerous round tables in which all imaginable aspects of motor culture were touched on: racing, films inspired by it, tuning, photography, the Gran Turismo saga itself…
These talks had exceptional presenters, such as Antonio Lobato, Josep Pedrerol, Cristóbal Rosaleny, Noemí de Miguel or Toniemcee.
And among the guests there were influencers such as the fashion stylist Josie, the artist Manu Campa, the pilot Dani Clos, the streamer DjMaRiiO or the rappers SRK and Robledo, who spoke at length about numerous topics.
Lucas Ordóñez, who became a professional driver thanks to GT Academy, had a great role in the long day. He could be seen driving cars on the track and in the game itself, interviewing Kazunori Yamauchi himself or remembering his origins. In addition, the organizing team of the event prepared a special video for him that made him emotional.
At the event, there was also time for a pack made up of a PlayStation 5 and a 25th Anniversary Edition of Gran Turismo 7 to be raffled. The winner of the coveted prize was Abrebatxas96.
Now, the star content was a twenty-four-hour endurance race held in the virtual version of Le Mans from GT7. Four of the best eSports teams in Spain (DUX, TDG Porsche, Falcons and Fordzilla) participated in it, with drivers such as Coque López and José Serrano, GT Sport world champions.
They were the great winners of the event, because, in teams of three or four members, they took turns behind the wheel for twenty-four hours, with the fatigue that this means, especially when driving at night or in the rain. In addition, the test was not solved until the last minute, since the differences in time between the participants were small.
All of this contributed to the fact that, once again, Gran Turismo made history, and they have been doing it for twenty-five years now. But this was the first time that it did so with a twenty-four-hour event, and also held in a place as significant as Jarama.
