Following the introduction of the e-Transit, Ford’s iconic Transit family will include a further four new electric models: the new one-tonne Transit Custom van and Tourneo Custom multi-purpose vehicle in 2023, and the next-generation, more compact Transit Courier van and the Tourneo Courier multipurpose vehicle in 2024.

As a plus point, the new 100% electric e-Transit maintain the same cargo space as the combustion versions, since the battery is located under the floor and between the two axles and does not take up space.

This capability is complemented by a higher level of standard equipment that includes Euro NCAP-recommended intelligent driver assistance and safety systems, as well as comprehensive charging support from Ford Pro Recharge and an integrated suite of Ford Pro solutions to optimize efficiency and cost.

It is available with 3 bodies, 3 lengths and two heights.

e-Transit spearheads the European launch of Ford Pro, the manufacturer’s new sales and service business focused on enhancing the productivity of commercial vehicle customers with world-class vehicles and cutting-edge products and services.

The vehicle incorporates a 75 kWh battery, which provides a range of up to 317 km according to the WLTP cycle for L2 models limited to 90 km/h from the factory, and 258 km for models without limitation (up to 130 km/h from the factory). maximum speed). The WLTP cycle has been calculated with a 30% load.

The battery can be charged both in alternating current at 11 kW and in direct current at 115 kW. At 11 kW it takes 7 hours to charge from 10 to 100%. At 115 kW it only takes 34 minutes to complete a fast charge from 15 to 80%.

All e-Transits are rear-wheel drive models, with an electric motor with 430 Nm of torque and outputs of 135 kW (184 hp) or 198 kW (269 hp). Payload is up to 1,758kg3 in the van model, and the extensive range totals 25 variants of van, double cab in van and chassis-cab body styles with multiple roof lengths and heights, as well as GVMs of 3, 5 to 4.25 tons.

It has a 75 kWh battery and a maximum range of 317 km. It is available with 184 or 269 hp.

The e-Transit also features Ford’s ProPower Onboard feature (€1,300), which provides up to 2.3Kw in the cab and cargo area to plug in tools and equipment while you work.

The Ford e-Transit is offered in a single Trend trim level, with all vehicles adding higher specifications than the equivalent diesel model. It comes standard with the SYNC 4 infotainment system controlled via a 12-inch touchscreen, the Ford Connected Navigation System 5, which can plan the most efficient route and update drivers on cargo, traffic and vehicle availability. live parking, as well as Intelligent Range to show a more accurate distance to the dump point. Enhanced voice control, available with Alexa built-in, helps drivers get the information they need without taking their eyes off the road.

In addition, every e-Transit includes a FordPass Connect 7 modem as standard, enabling active connectivity to the Ford Pro ecosystem and Ford Power-Up software updates to deliver additional features and benefits. Customers also benefit from a lifetime subscription to FordPass Pro 8 or Ford Pro Telematics Essentials 9 and access to the Charging Network for one year. Fleet customers also receive one year of free access to Ford Pro E-Telematics.

The battery is located under the floor, so there is no cargo space in the box.

The e-Transit has been awarded a Gold Award from the independent vehicle safety authority Euro NCAP for its suite of driver assistance systems. Available technologies include Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Information System with Lane Departure Warning and Assist, Lane Alert, Lane Keeping and Crossing Assistant, Reverse Braking Assistant, which uses a camera and sensors to detect pedestrians, cyclists and static obstacles or the 360º camera.

Ford Pro offers a one-year, unlimited-mileage service interval and an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on all high-voltage electrical components, including coverage for excessive degradation, as well as an electric vehicle roadside assistance package one year duration including ransom charge.

We have tested an L4H3 van variant with the 184hp entry engine for around 70km on all types of roads and tracks and the van drives quite briskly indeed. The most remarkable thing is the 430 Nm of instantaneous torque, although the system limits the delivery a bit to save some energy. I have covered those 70 km with just a quarter of the battery, which means that the autonomy is very close to what it declares.

It can be charged at a plug at 11 kW or at a fast charging point at 115 kW.

It has three selectable driving modes: Normal, Eco and Slippery and two modes in the change, mode D and mode L with greater retention when the foot is lifted from the accelerator.

It is a very comfortable van to drive, with very good maneuverability considering its size. It lacks practically nothing in terms of equipment for day to day and has a lot of solutions to leave objects around the cabin as well as USB sockets and others. Very complete.

The first production vehicles recently rolled out of the factory in Kocaeli, Turkey, with 5,000 customer orders received before the start of production. The launch price is €70,170 for the Chassis Cab version and €71,270 for the van versions.
