Ford has selected the plant in Almussafes (Valencia) to manufacture two new electric models, which guarantees the future of the plant, which currently manufactures the Kuga, S-Max, Galaxy, Transit and Tourneo Connect models, some of them already in their final phase of the commercial cycle.

The decision was made after Almussafes entered into competition with the German plant in Saarlouis for the award of these two electric cars, which will be built with the small platform of the Volkswagen group that the American brand will take advantage of for its new B-segment models.

The fact that Volkswagen announced a few months ago the construction of a battery plant with a capacity of 40 GWh in Sagunto (Valencia) already suggested that the decision of the Detroit managers could opt for the Spanish factory.

In this way, the 6,000 jobs in Almussafes have a brighter future, especially at a time when the days of building cars with combustion engines are numbered, after the European Parliament ratified its decision to ban their sale to from 2035.
