It seems that policemen in the Czech Republic do not go barefoot. If a few days ago the Czech Police acquired ten units of the BMW 540i xDrive Touring as a patrol car, now the park is expanding with a new exceptional guest. Nothing less than a confiscated Ferrari 458 Italia becomes a new Czech Police car.
There are countries and cities that end up destroying the cars they confiscate for a year. For example, New York trashes confiscated motorcycles and quads. But the force and security body of the Czech Republic has seen fit to keep a Ferrari 458 Italia and adapted it to a police vehicle.
The aforementioned department will use the 458 Italia to pursue the most aggressive drivers on Czech roads, stolen vehicles and to monitor places where “special events” are reported, according to the Czech police themselves.
Confiscated Ferrari 458 Italia becomes Czech police car
To do this, it has had to invest 340,000 Czech crowns, equivalent to almost 14,000 euros. Specifically, the Italian sports car will be used by the Special Surveillance Department of the Czech Republic, with jurisdiction throughout the country, and will be driven only by specially trained agents.
To that figure must be added another 5,000 euros that it has cost to fine-tune the vehicle, since it had been stored and unused for ten years. In fact, its odometer barely shows 2,000 kilometers. So it can be said that it is almost new.
The main modifications have focused on the exterior paint, changing from the original Ferrari red to the typical colors of Czech police cars: fluorescent blue and yellow colors on a metallic gray base.
In addition, a series of elements have been installed, such as a camera system, a special warning siren and a speed radar, among others.
It must be remembered that the Ferrari 458 Italia mounts a 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, which develops 570 hp at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
