Kia Sportage PHEV test

The South Korean firm has just released a teaser image as a preview of what the Kia Sportage X-Pro will look like to compete in the 2022 Rebelle Rally.

Although it is not very common to see an SUV competing in rally races, from time to time some crazy projects take place that even participate in official tests. One of those that will get dirty in style will be the Kia Sportage X-Pro that will participate in the Rebelle Rally 2022 and of which Kia offers us a first preview of what the car will look like.

The company assures that the modifications will have a minor depth, but that does not mean that we will not be able to see some important changes. The teaser anticipates that the rally Kia Sportage will have off-road tires, some improvements focused on enhancing its off-road capacity and an active all-wheel drive system on demand from the factory.

The standard Sportage X-Pro’s BF Goodrich tires wrap around 17-inch matte black wheels, mated to available LED fog lights and LED projector headlamps, a heated windshield and windshield water diffusers, as well as different off-road driving modes and a black roof.

Meanwhile, the Kia Sportage X-Pro competition livery is inspired by Kia’s new logo: ‘Movement that Inspires’. It features a signature grey, white and black color scheme, and the model pictured here appears to also feature spare wheels, increased ground clearance and additional equipment on a roof rack.

All this will be useful for the rally of more than 2,400 kilometers that is going to take place, in which teams of two participants compete for eight days navigating the deserts of Nevada and California (United States). This event is scheduled to begin on October 6 and will end on the 15th of the same month in Southern California.

Kia says it will fully introduce its Sportage for the 2022 Rally Rebelle in the coming weeks, before testing officially begins.
