The GLC is the best-selling Mercedes in recent years. For many it may come as a surprise because, with the GLK, those from Stuttgart started with some difficulty in the middle-class SUVs. And whoever knows all this will also notice the details in which the new GLC looks clearly more modern than the previous model. A little larger, with mechanical innovations and a digital cockpit, the Mercedes GLC 2023 improves considerably compared to its predecessor. But at the same time, it is not far from the successful model.

The differences are above all in the details: at 4.72 meters it is six centimeters longer than the previous one, and the wheelbase grows 1.5 centimeters to 2.89 meters. The front tracks grow by 6 millimeters at the front and 23 at the rear. This brings more space to the second row, and in total everything looks more elegant than before, with a more compact and more massive rear at the same time.

The trunk now has 620 to 1,680 litres, compared to the previous 550 and 1,600. The interior is faithful to the C-Class, and here too we have the 12.3-inch screen with a configurable display in 7 different modes, and in the middle, the 11.9-inch tilted touch screen, including the MBUX multimedia system and its control. by voice, which reacts quickly, intelligently and very attentively.

Let’s move on to the engine offer: two gasoline, two diesel and no less than three plug-in hybrids. The two-liter gasoline yields 205 and 258 hp, the two-liter diesel, meanwhile, 197 and 269 hp. The four engines have a mild-hybrid system with 48 volts and an integrated starter generator, with an added electro boost of 23 CV.

The plug-in hybrids have gasoline engines with 313 and 381 hp, and also a diesel with 335 hp. In both cases, the electric autonomy is around 100 kilometers, with a 31.2 kWh battery, larger than the previous one, therefore. And it can be charged with a maximum continuous current of 60 kW. Unlike the C-Class, the Mercedes GLC has air suspension available, along with rear-axle steering. The plug-in hybrids carry it as standard, as well as regulation of the height of the bodywork. Combustion models weigh two tons, hybrids go up to 2.4. They’re not exactly light, but they ride very comfortably, are well insulated and generally manageable and even more agile than before.
