The DeLorean is possibly the most iconic car in the history of cinema, something that has later translated into great fame in the real world, even if it was not exactly a good car. With everything and with that, when there is talk of a possible successor, the expectation skyrockets and the Model-JZD was born precisely for this.
It is not the first model that wants to hang this title, and it is that not long ago the Alpha5 of ItalDesign, who designed the original, saw the light. However, this is from DNG Motors (DeLorean Next Generation Motors), a company formed by Kat DeLorean, daughter of the legendary John Z. DeLorean.
Leaving aside legal issues (which we assume will be resolved in court), what is proposed by the Model-JZD? It is a great coupé that takes up the spirit of the original, but adapting it to the present.
Thus, there are numerous details that are directly inspired by it, such as the silver-colored bodywork, because it has already been shown that leaving it unpainted is not a good idea; large multi-spoke wheels or the fact that the doors have the characteristic ‘gull-wing’ type opening system.
More subtle nods are found in the black slats that act as hood vents and aid aerodynamics at the rear. Especially striking is the belt line completely illuminated by an LED strip that covers the front and rear lights and also the side area.
Absolutely nothing is known about its mechanics, although we can venture that, given current trends, it is quite likely that it is an electric car.
The official presentation of the Model-JZD is scheduled for the end of the year, at which time all its technical data should be revealed. Moreover, the company’s intention is to start production of the model in January 2023.
