Like other operators, as is the case that we saw at the beginning of the month with Lowi, Telefónica’s Low Cost operator has also joined the initiative of digital vouchers, which are financed by the European Union. In this way, all those who are eligible for this particular program will have a monthly saving of 20 euros in their fiber or fiber and mobile rates.
We are talking about the digital connectivity bond issuance program, also known as digital bonds, which is aimed at the most vulnerable groups. Therefore, if you are an O2 customer and want to know whether or not you can request the digital vouchers, here we leave you all the conditions and until when it will be available.
O2 joins the digital vouchers
This program is about giving subsidies to the Autonomous Communities of Spain, in addition to Ceuta and Melilla, of 240 euros per year. With these digital vouchers, what is achieved is that vulnerable groups can have a discount of 20 euros per month on their rates, applied directly to O2 bills.
Although, for this, it is necessary to take into account which will be the Autonomous Communities in which O2 will participate. Otherwise, you will not be able to access this monthly discount. In this case, the operator will participate in: Castilla La Mancha, the Valencian Community, La Rioja and Galicia. Although, from the company they make it clear to us that we must take into account that each community has its own regulatory bases.
In addition, the European Digital Voucher will be available exclusively for new fiber-only or fiber and mobile registrations and will be valid until December 31, 2023. Therefore, it is better to keep these two points in mind at all times. The clearest example is given by O2 on its website: «If you make a contract on November 25, 2022, you will be able to benefit from the Digital Bonus until December 25, 2023«.
How to request the discount of 20 euros
The first thing we must do is request this subsidy from the Autonomous Community in which we live, as long as it is included in the list in which this particular operator will participate. To request this particular aid, keep in mind that it will depend on income, whether you receive the Minimum Vital Income or other requirements such as registration, habitual residence, etc., established by each community. Once we have carried out the procedure and we are notified that we are beneficiaries of said aid (the resolution period varies depending on each community), we will have to call 1551 to contract a fiber-only or fiber and mobile O2 rate.
