Grand Canyon: ON 7, the brand’s most affordable electric MTB
The Grand Canyon:ON range offers one of the most interesting bicycles on the market, since it is the most affordable model of the German brand. It is designed around the concept of MTB or mountain bike, so it is really versatile. And within this range, we find the ON 7.
Technically, this is a hardtail, which means that its geometry is articulated around a rigid aluminum frame, designed and built to achieve a natural riding position.
Advantages of an electric bike compared to a conventional one
Given its characteristics, the Grand Canyon:ON 7 is not a bicycle for extreme use on off-road surfaces, but rather for long journeys on mountain routes and paths that are not too demanding.
This electric mountain bike stands out for two aspects: the first is its Shimano EP8 motor with 250 W nominal power and 85 Nm of torque, associated with an integrated and removable 630 Wh battery and a Shimano Deore M4120 10-speed gearbox.
With this engine, it can reach the maximum speed of 25 km/h allowed by law, although it can exceed them without the assistance of the engine, while MT200 hydraulic discs are in charge of braking.
Three driving modes
Canyon’s electric bicycle includes a program with three driving modes, ECO, Trail and Boost, with the peculiarity that they can be managed from a mobile application. It is also equipped with a USB port to charge the mobile during the route.
In the equipment, it is also worth noting an SR Suntour XCM34 suspension fork, with 120 millimeters of travel, spring preload adjustment and lockout.
Finally, it has 29-inch diameter Shimano MT400 wheels wrapped in 2.6-inch-wide Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance tires. Its price is 2,999 euros.
