A year ago we told you that Colove was studying the possibility of making a trail with an 800 cc twin-cylinder engine. In fact, he presented several sketches with different concepts of it, some very adventurous, others more touring, etc.
Finally, the Chinese brand opted for the most adventurous version and at the EICMA in Milan we saw the Kove (Colove Motorcycles sells under the brands Colove, Kove and Excelle, depending on the market) 800X Super Adventure, a trail bike with 90/90 spoke wheels x 21” and 150/60 x 18” and long travel suspensions.
Of these suspensions, the front one has 210 mm of travel and is adjustable for preload and rebound, like the shock absorber, also 210 mm, and with links.
And be careful, because in addition to the dedicated cycle part, it mounts a parallel twin-cylinder engine ‘inspired’ by the KTM LC8c and that yields a more than respectable 103 hp and a torque of 81 Nm at 7,500 rpm. This power allows a maximum speed of 218 km/h.
With its 22-liter tank Kove claims a range of 400 km.
Another very interesting fact is the declared weight: 163 kg dry, 180 kg in running order! very low for a trail of its characteristics. The chassis is a diamond-type steel double-spar, and the swingarm is aluminum. Mounts two discs in front with two-piston calipers.
Despite the suspension travel and the diameter of the wheels, a seat height of 840 mm is declared, very affordable for most users.
The instrumentation is through a large vertical TFT screen, like the Ducati DesertX or the Yamaha Ténéré 700.
It is a motorcycle that, due to its power and concept, can compete with renowned adventurers such as the KTM 890 Adventure, the Honda Africa Twin (from which it seems to have been inspired in terms of design), the BMW F850 GS or the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, among others. .
And there are rumors that the brand wants to establish itself in Spain… If it does so and brings with it such interesting motorcycles as this Kove 800X Super Adventure or the attractive and sporty four-cylinder 400RR (67 CV and 220 km/h) at a good price…
