We raised our doubts about it during the presentation last week and today we can confirm it: the 5-door Suzuki Jimny will not reach Europe.

Although there was still some hope that we were wrong in our prediction last week when the Suzuki Jimny 5-door was introduced, today we can definitively confirm it after consulting with the manufacturer. The 5-door Suzuki Jimny will not reach Europe and, therefore, it will not land in Spanish dealers either.

It seemed very unlikely that the 5-door version would end up being marketed in Spain after the odyssey that Suzuki has undergone to be able to sell the three-door model. To do this, he had to turn it into an industrial car that you must buy as such and for which you have to meet a series of requirements (we will tell you everything in this article).

The Jimny Pro, which is how the Japanese 4×4 is now known in Spain, can be bought in our market because it is considered a commercial vehicle in the N1 category. To do this, it dispenses with the rear seats (now it is a two-seater) and allocates the rear compartment to a cargo area separated by a grill from the cabin.

The decision to market it this way is due to an issue related to emissions and the heavy fines that Suzuki had to face for exceeding the limits starting in 2021. For this reason, the Jimny was discontinued in 2020 despite the fact that it was being a A true sales success and returned to the scene a few months later, although already converted into a commercial vehicle.

So it was clear that if Suzuki was having trouble selling the 3-door Jimny in Europe, the 5-door version of the model was not going to make it to the Old Continent. Suzuki has confirmed it to us, so there will be no Suzuki Jimny 5-door in the Spanish dealers of the brand.

The 5-door Suzuki Jimny is 340mm longer than the standard Jimny and weighs between 75 and 125 kilos more. In return, it adds two rear doors and adds 85 liters of additional volumetric capacity to the trunk. It also retains its 105-hp 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, the 5-door Jimny continues to feature Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD with low-lowering, while its off-road dimensions are virtually identical to the standard model: 36-degree approach, 50-degree, and 24-degree departure. ventral angle.
