Which is better in engine, performance, consumption and price, the Maserati Levante or the Porsche Macan? We took a look at these two high-end SUVs to pick a winner.
High-end SUVs are designed for a very specific audience that knows what they are looking for in a vehicle. This type of buyer takes into account aspects such as the engine and performance, and downplays others such as consumption or price due to its higher economic level. This type of driver is the one we want to guide today with this technical comparison.
In it we are going to determine which is better in engine, performance and consumption, either the Maserati Levante or the Porsche Macan. We will also analyze other aspects such as the dimensions and the trunk, as well as the price of each model before reaching the conclusions section and determining which is the fair winner in this confrontation.
Dimensions
We start with the Maserati Levante, the star SUV within the trident brand. This model features a body that is 5,005 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,695 mm high, all on a platform with a 3,005 mm wheelbase.
Of course, he is not as big as his Italian rival, but he is a serious opponent to be reckoned with. The Porsche Macan, the little brother of the Cayenne, has exterior measurements that reach 4,725 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,805 mm.
Trunk
The trunk, although it is not a key factor when choosing one model or another in this segment, has some value if it offers greater cargo capacity. In the case of the Maserati model, the boot offers 580 liters of volumetric capacity, a figure that can reach 1,625 liters by folding down the rear seat backs.
Meanwhile, the Porsche SUV offers a trunk with 460 liters of cargo capacity and slightly exceeds 1,500 liters when folding the backrests of the second row of seats. In both cases, the interior has space for up to five passengers without the possibility of adding a third row.

On a mechanical level, the Levante is available in a GT Hybrid version with 48V microhybrid technology, 330 CV and DGT ECO label. There is also the Modena model with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo and 430 CV, and the Trophy version, which is equipped with a 3.8-liter V8 biturbo with 580 CV of power. All have eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The Macan, meanwhile, has a 265bhp 2.0-litre entry-level version offered on both the Macan and Macan T, a 380bhp 2.9-litre V6 turbo version for the Macan S, and the Macan S version. more powerful is the Macan GTS with its 2.9-liter V6 turbo engine and 440 hp. In this case, they are also automatic, but seven-speed, and all-wheel drive.
Benefits and consumption
If we compare the performance of both models, we can see that the Levante Trofeo, the most powerful in the range, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 302 km/h. For its part, the Macan GTS needs 4.5 seconds to complete the sprint to 100 km/h from a standstill and its top speed is 272 km/h.
Meanwhile, the average consumption of the most efficient version of the Levante, the GT Hybrid, is 9.7-10.5 l/100 km, while the range-access Macan homologates 9.8 l/100 km. As you may have seen, neither of the two models in this technical comparison is available with diesel engines.
Price
At the price level, the Maserati Levante starts at 109,650 euros in its GT Hybrid version with 48 V microhybrid technology and 330 HP of power.
On the other hand, the cheapest Porsche Macan has a starting price of 74,765 euros with the 2.0-liter engine and 265 hp.
Conclution
At this point, it is time to highlight the differences between the two models. The Maserati Levante is clearly bigger. It measures 280mm longer, 60mm wider and 75mm taller, while the wheelbase is 200mm longer than the Porsche Macan.
This difference in measurements is reflected in a trunk that offers 120 liters more capacity in the Levante, and an additional 125 liters when the rear seat backs are folded down.
The engine offer is also very different. The 48 V micro-hybrid version of the Maserati Levante with the ECO label stands out, as well as the 580 CV Trofeo version. For its part, the Porsche Macan is satisfied with less powerful engines in any of its versions. The Levante, in addition, is faster and faster than the Macan, with average consumption on a par with its German rival.
And in terms of prices, the Porsche Macan is significantly cheaper in its range access version. In fact, you can save almost €35,000 if you buy the cheaper Macan instead of the Levante’s micro-hybrid option.
