The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was the C segment car of the Italian firm between 2010 and 2020. It is currently discontinued and Alfa Romeo does not offer a model that covers the space left by the Giulietta, so it is mandatory to resort to the vehicle market second hand to buy a unit.

The Giulietta offers a body that measures 4,350mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,465mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,635mm. It is only available in a compact five-door version, but it has a 350-liter boot that can reach 1,045 liters once the rear seats are folded down.

Throughout its commercial life, the Alfa Giulietta was available with different four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. When it arrived on the market, it was offered with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with 105, 120, and 170 HP of power, as well as the famous 1.7 TBi with 235 HP of the Quadrifoglio Verde version. There were also diesel 1.6 JTDm with 105 CV and 2.0 JTDm with 140 and 170 CV.

Later, other engines would be added to the range while some of the first ones were eliminated. Thus, the 2.0 JTDm of 150 and 175 CV was added, as well as an LPG version of the 1.4-liter 120 CV engine and a 1.4-liter 150 CV, while the 1.7 TBi of the Quadrifoglio Verde reached 240 CV of power.

Currently, there are enough used Alfa Romeo Giulietta to be able to buy a good unit. If you are looking for the cheapest price, you will find units for just over 5,000 euros, while the most expensive are over 20,000 euros.

If you want it with a gasoline engine, you can find units for just over 10,000 euros, although they are the least common. In the case of preferring a diesel, prices can even drop below that barrier of 10,000 euros, but it is normal that they are somewhat more expensive. In both cases, these figures correspond to cars with less than 100,000 kilometers.

Peugeot 308

The second option is the Peugeot 308. We have selected the second generation of the model, which was on sale between 2013 and 2021 before being officially replaced by the third generation of the Peugeot compact.

In this case, the body of the 308 measures 4,255 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,455 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. There was also an estate version, the 308 SW, which is 230mm longer and 15mm taller, as well as offering 110mm more wheelbase.

The boot of the Peugeot 308 has a capacity of 400 liters, while the version with a family body offers 555 liters, expandable up to 1,600 liters by folding down the rear seat backs.

The 308 engine offer includes the 1.2 PureTech block with 82, 110 and 130 CV, the 1.6 THP with 125, 155 and 205 CV, and the GTi versions of 250 and 270 CV. There was also diesel, such as the 1.6-liter 92, 100, 115 and 120 hp, and the 2.0-liter 150 and 180 hp.

With the restyling, the 130 CV 1.5 BlueHDi engine was added, the 225 CV 1.6 PureTech and the GTi went from having 270 CV to 263 CV by including the gasoline particle filter.

When it comes to second-hand prices, the Peugeot 308 is much more common on the used market. The cheapest units start at 6,000 euros, while the most expensive even reach 30,000 euros.

If you are looking for a copy with a gasoline engine, prices start at around 9,000 euros, while for diesel you have to approach the barrier of 10,000 euros (in both cases, with less than 100,000 kilometers).
