The JMC Teshun Touring is a fully electric Ford Transit from the ’80s that has been equipped with a modern front end, although it retains its general lines.

The second generation of the Ford Transit hit the European market in 1986 and became a particularly popular van. So much so, that units are still seen rolling on Spanish roads despite the fact that production officially ended in 2003. However, it continued to be manufactured in China until 2017, which was followed by the JMC Teshun Touring.

Now this Chinese-made van is still essentially an ’80s Ford Transit, but fully electric, given a more modern front end and new interior. Although, this update actually has a trick.

It turns out that the new front is bolted directly to the original panels of the Transit, so no parts are replaced, but new components are added. Now we can see a larger grille with the ‘EV’ logo in blue located in the center, and some very sharp headlights with LED daytime running lights.

The hood is also new and there is plastic lining on the lower part of the bumper. And, if we look at the rest of the van, we can clearly see the original lines of the ’80s Transit flowing along its sides and at the rear (with new lights), where there is a version with a tailgate or with double doors.

The interior, on the other hand, has changed a lot compared to the original model. We can find a multifunction steering wheel and even a screen for the information and entertainment system. And in the lower part of the console the lever to manage the electric propulsion system has been integrated.

The great novelty is in its mechanical section. The JMC Teshun Touring EV is equipped with a 65 kWh battery pack that provides enough juice to certify up to 300 kilometers of autonomy according to China’s CLTC cycle.

Power comes from a 163PS electric motor with 320Nm of torque that drives the front wheels. Meanwhile, charging to 80% of the battery level can be done in about 40 minutes, while JMC’s electric van needs about 15 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
