Production will start in October, and although we do not have available prices, we can tell you most of the details of this new model. We even already have the M variant of the i5 family, a car that exceeds 600 horsepower.
The new i5 is based on the new edition 5 Series, a car that declares 5.06 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and 1.52 meters in height. Compared to the previous 5 Series, it is larger in everything, increasing the wheelbase to close to 3 meters. The interior has a new design, with digital instrumentation consisting of a 12.3-inch screen and a large 14.9-inch central multimedia screen. Of course, it uses the latest generation BMW OS 8.5 operating system.
At launch, the i5 eDrive40 and i5 M60 xDrive will be available, with the first mounting a rear electric motor with 340 hp and 430 Nm of torque. It has an 81.2 kWh battery and announces a WLTP autonomy of between 477 and 582 kilometers. All with an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds and a top speed of 193 km/h.
The i5 M60 xDrive has the rear electric motor of the eDrive40 variant together with another front electric motor with which they together add 601 horsepower and a maximum torque of 820 Nm. This is achieved thanks to the ‘M Sport Boost’ or ‘M Launch Control’, functions with which the BMW i5 M60 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and achieve a top speed of 230 km/h . The approved WLTP autonomy ranges from 455 to 516 kilometers, using the same battery.
Both incorporate an 11 kW on-board charger, although an optional 22 kW is available. The car admits up to 205 kW of power, with which up to 156 kilometers of autonomy can be achieved in about 10 minutes of time. Soon we will know more information about the new BMW i5.
