On March 21, the new Law on Traffic and Road Safety comes into force and, with it, important regulatory changes designed to increase safety at the wheel. As far as radars are concerned, fines are tougher for those who are in possession of a radar detector or inhibitor; and the wording is modified to penalize the mere fact of carrying one of these devices in the vehicle.

That radar detectors and jammers are illegal is nothing new. They always have been. What changes now is the application of it, now even if you have the detector turned off, you can be fined for the mere fact of having it in the car.

Explained in a simpler way: until March 21, those drivers who are discovered using a radar detector or inhibitor will be sanctioned with 200 euros; From that day on, they will be fined if they take it in a vehicle (without the need for the agent to show that it was in use). The penalty will be 200 euros and the loss of three points from the driving license for detectors and 6,000 euros and 6 points for inhibitors.

Radar warnings are legal

Detect and inhibit is illegal; but warning is allowed.

Although they are sometimes used as synonyms, the truth is that radar detectors, inhibitors and warning devices are three devices that have little in common.

  • Radar detectors detect the presence of cinemometers in a radius of action that depends on the performance of the device. They are conceived and designed to identify the presence of a radar by tracking the electromagnetic spectrum in which they operate.
  • Radar jammers, in addition to detecting their presence, can alter their operation. That is why they are the most persecuted and sanctioned with a fine of up to 6,000 euros and the loss of six points. Workshops that install this type of device are also sanctioned with fines that can reach 30,000 euros
  • Radar warnings are the one hundred percent legal option. They are devices that warn of the location of radars based on public information.

Radar warnings like Coyote are one hundred percent legal before and after the new Traffic Law.

They are because they neither look for the frequency of the cinemometers nor do they alter it. Equipped with a GPS system, they feed on information extracted from official bodies (such as the General Directorate of Traffic itself) and send an audible alert when the vehicle approaches one of the points indicated in its database.

Coyote has a community of more than five million users in Europe. It uses a real-time algorithm that, in addition to reporting the location of the radars, collects traffic information in real time, launching warnings of accidents, traffic jams…

Coyote also informs about the speed limits at which you drive and those that are allowed, in case of exceeding the maximum speed allowed in each section, the device issues an alert to warn the driver

Until next April 10, it is available with an exclusive online discount of 50% for the Coyote mini device and 2 months free and a 40% discount on its annual formula in the app.
