Artificial intelligence has reached Movistar Plus+ customers with a UHD decoder. Movistar launches a new living app in its application menu called Perplexity, which provides us with a search engine powered by AI designed by the technology startup of the same name.

This application represents “the first Perplexity experience available through television. Thanks to this Living App and its integration with Aura, Movistar’s virtual assistant, users can interact with Perplexity’s AI,” Telefónica explains on their blog.

The landing of this app occurs after the telecom invested in Perplexity, through its venture capital investment vehicle, called Wayra. Perplexity, an American company dedicated to artificial intelligence, offers a conversational search engine that works similar to ChatGPT. Now, Movistar Plus+ users, not only in Spain but also in the United Kingdom and Brazil, will be able to use the chatbot from their televisions.

If you are a miMovistar customer and have a UHD decoder, you can access this living app in the following way (make sure your decoder is updated):

  • Press the “+” button on your Movistar Plus+ Voice Remote
  • Navigate to ‘Education and Culture’ street
  • Click your controller on the Perplexity Living App. You can also access it by clicking on the “Apps” section of the main menu

This integration also represents a more advanced form of contact with artificial intelligence, as we can access it not only from our smartphone or PC but from the television. In any case, it is simply a search engine on the Internet, which does what Google or Bing have been doing, only offering a single and summarized answer, simplifying the usual process of going result by result, and providing the information in a more direct way. and fast.

Thus, the user can ask you things like “When was the last time you…?” or “What do I need to learn to…?”, for example.

According to Telefónica, Perplexity is distinguished from ChatGPT in three key characteristics: unlike ChatGPT, its responses are more precise and conversational, it offers a more personalized experience by using third-party information sources, and it issues personalized responses depending on the context and needs. of the user on the platform.
