The latest generation of wireless networking standards is WiFi 7, with improved speeds and capabilities compared to previous versions, such as WiFi 6. Digi was the first operator to offer a router with such connectivity to its customers, but it is no longer the unique: Orange has also been updated with the launch of the new Livebox 7.

The installation of the router is almost always included in the contract for a fiber rate in Spain. However, to get the latest models, operators usually ask for some extra money, as is the case with Movistar’s Smart WiFi 6. Orange has ventured to offer its new Livebox 7 router free to some customers, which features the latest wireless network standard, WiFi 7.

Routers with WiFi 7 are a huge improvement for fixed broadband at home. This wireless network standard is designed to meet current needs, with more and more connected devices (IoT) and more advanced applications, with video transmission at resolutions up to 8K, online games, augmented and virtual reality, etc.

Orange is bringing WiFi 7 and its many benefits to those with self-covered 1Gbps fiber connections, including most LOVE rates. Firstly, they are reaching customers in Madrid and Barcelona completely free, but it is a matter of time before they begin to send the router to other parts of Spain.

The orange operator is providing two router models with WiFi 7. The simplest version is developed by Arcadyan and does not have spectrum in band 6. While the most complete, manufactured by ZTE, is installed for users with Infinity fiber of 5 Gbps contracted.

Features of the Orange Livebox 7 Arcadyan router

The most basic WiFi 7 router created by Orange’s Arcadyan is equipped with the ONT and the router on the device itself. This model reaches up to 2.5 Gbps / 1.25 Gbps.

In addition, it has a wireless connection of up to 5.7 Gbps symmetrical, something that it manages to distribute throughout the house thanks to its three 2.5 GHz antennas and its four 5 MHz antennas. On the other hand, it has three Gigabyte Ethernet ports and another 2.5 Gb for wired connection.

The design of the Orange Livebox 7 Arcadyan also has other notable ports, such as USB 3.0 and one for the RJ11 landline telephone. There are fewer and fewer Spaniards who contract a rate with a landline at their home, but the number of clients is still high, so this last port continues to be necessary.

Another advantage of the basic model with WiFi 7 from the telecommunications brand is that it is compatible with Orange TV. If your Internet rate is 1 Gbps, it is a matter of time before you can take advantage of all the advantages of this Livebox 7. Therefore, do not be afraid if you have contracted the company’s television service, because you will be able to use it with your new router .

Livebox 7 ZTE from Orange, a more complete option

Like the Livebox 7 created by Arcadyan, the ZTE model has ONT and router integrated in the same device up to 2.5 Gbps / 1.25 Gbps. It also matches the ports for wired connection, with three Gigabyte Ethernet ports and another 2.5 Gb, one USB 3.0 and RJ11 for landlines. Another similarity to the simpler WiFi 7 router is that it is compatible with Orange TV.

The big difference is in the wireless connection with WiFi 7. In its case, it reaches 11.5 Gbps symmetrical. This increase compared to the most basic version is due to the fact that ZTE has placed three 2.4 GHz antennas, four 5 MHz antennas and another four 6 MHz antennas.

However, this extra feature of Livebox 7 ZTE means that Orange will only install it for free on its 5 Gbps or higher plans. Right now, that means paying for certain Infinity rates from the orange operator.
