With the huge Superténéré 1200 discontinued, the arrival of a Yamaha Ténéré 900, in the style of the popular 700, has long been rumored.
The new maxitrail would occupy a place among the adventurers with a 21” front wheel and more than 100 hp, in the case of the Honda Africa Twin, or the new Ducati Desert X and MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5, to give three examples.
The 1200 was a comfortable bike to ride, but too big and heavy to venture off-road. The 900 would be very different.
Our French colleagues from Moto-Station have imagined how it could be and have made these renders.
With the triple cylinder of the Tracer 9
Of course, I would mount the CP3 three-cylinder of the Tracer 9 and MT-09, a powerful engine, full of torque and with a very homogeneous delivery. It produces 119 hp at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 9.5 kgm at 7,500 laps. As in the case of the Ténéré 700 or both Tracers, we do not expect any changes to the engine. Let us remember that the MV Agusta Lucky Explorer also mounts a three-cylinder.
The chassis must be tubular and the suspensions have a greater travel than in the Tracer 9 (in the Ténéré 700 they are 210 mm and 200 mm at the front and rear respectively), with which the height of the seat will also increase.
We expect, of course, front and rear spoked wheels, 21” and 18”. Of course, it will mount the required electronics, with driving modes, traction control and disconnectable ABS for off road.
There is no information about this model, only that our French colleagues say that we should see it later this year, possibly in the autumn salons.
We have no doubt that its side will be clearly adventurous, since for road lovers the brand is already very well represented with the Tracer 9 and especially the Tracer 9 GT, which is selling very well throughout Europe.
