The price of electricity has increased enormously in recent times. This has led many homes to consider installing solar panels on the roof or balcony. Several operators in Spain have joined this business. We tell you which ones currently provide this service.

Operators have long ceased to be simple Internet or fixed and mobile telephony providers. There are many that offer more television channels or even subscriptions to streaming platforms (some have their own, such as Movistar). The last service to be added to its long list is the possibility of installing photovoltaic panels, which a few Spanish brands already allow.

Movistar with Solar360

The Telefónica operator joined forces with Repsol in mid-2022 to launch a joint company: Solar360. Movistar was a pioneer in the telecommunications sector in getting a foot in the solar energy business. Its objective is to offer self-consumption solutions to individual customers, neighborhood communities and companies that want to install photovoltaic panels, with a special electricity rate. It does not matter whether the interested parties are Movistar clients or not.

Solar360 offers three types of installation:

  • The conventional one. The same as always and your measure.
  • The smart one. They use a battery with artificial intelligence to maximize savings.
  • Self-installable solar kit. Designed for terraces or balconies. It takes 20 minutes to install and reduces energy consumption by up to 30%.

Yoigo with EnergyGO Solar

The same year that Movistar launched Solar360, Yoigo collaborated with Otovo to release EnergyGO Solar. With this company, the service did not succeed, but the project continued, with an agreement with Naturgy. The operator offers financing for the installation of solar panels through its MoneyGO service, regardless of whether you are a customer or not.

The brand reports that it normally takes about 7 years to pay off the cost of the panels. Furthermore, with EnergyGo, the energy that you do not use is sold, so it is not wasted and, in addition, you earn a bonus.

According to the EnergyGO website, those who install their panels save up to 70% on electricity consumption. This can be up to 100% if you use batteries. Likewise, the company is committed to advising you on the subsidies available for installation, which will make you reduce the initial expense even more.

MásMóvil and Euskaltel with Naturgy Solar

The MásMóvil Group and Euskaltel have also reached an agreement with Naturgy to install Naturgy Solar solar panels. Clients of both operators, and even external people, can finance their photovoltaic panels with greater flexibility thanks to the alliance between the companies.

The visit to check the roof and check how many panels need to be installed to achieve the savings and profitability objectives is free. What you pay is the installation. However, as with Yoigo’s EnergyGO, experts will recommend subsidies so that it costs as little as possible.

In addition, customers and non-customers of MásMóvil and Euskaltel will also recover their investment in about 7 years. This is possible thanks to savings of up to 70% on electricity bills each month.

Orange Energy

Together with Powen, Orange also launched its own project for the sale and installation of photovoltaic panels. It was Orange Energía and was intended exclusively for the operator’s clients residing in single-family homes.

Unfortunately, Orange Energía’s solar panel project ended in nothing. Although the electricity and gas rate business with the company remains under that name, they are no longer in charge of placing panels as such to provide solar energy to their consumers.
