Want to answer your phone on your iPhone speaker by default? This tip will show you how to set up automatic recording of phone calls on your iPhone speaker for all regular phone calls and for FaceTime Audio.

Do you often call from the car? Then you obviously do this hands-free. To prevent having to press buttons when you receive a call, it would be useful if you could answer the iPhone directly via the speaker. That is possible! With the steps in this article, you can always answer phone calls via the speaker. If you are looking for the option to record phone calls with an audio recording, we have a separate tip about that. In this tip, we are not talking about recording and saving a phone call, but about answering it.

Record phone calls via iPhone speaker

If your phone is paired with a Bluetooth car radio, you can have your phone call go through the car speakers. But not everyone has that. That’s why we’ll explain how to make sure that phone calls always come through the iPhone’s built-in speaker. You can do this via the Accessibility functions, which you can find in the Settings app. It also applies immediately to all calls you make via FaceTime Audio.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to Accessibility > Touch
  3. Select Audio Path Conversations.
  4. Set this to Speaker.
Always answer the phone with speakerphone

Now when you make or receive a call, the speakerphone function will automatically turn on. You can still turn this off manually via the speakerphone button in the call window (the white button in the left image).
