When we buy a package on Amazon, or any other online store, we expect it to be delivered to our doorstep. However, many times, the delivery people are not around for the job, and they always look for a way to mark the package as “delivered” so they can continue with the next one, even if we are not at home. And this, in the long run, ends up having problems.
Packages of things we buy online must be delivered to our home. It doesn’t matter if it is an Amazon package, like one that comes to us through the Post Office, SEUR, or any other courier. These packages cannot be delivered to neighbors, much less left at the door of the house, in a common area where anyone can take the package. Even if the delivery person calls us on the phone, and we give them instructions to leave it somewhere, or deliver it to a neighbor, they should not do it.
However, they do it much more often than they should. And sooner or later, the inevitable happens.
This is how an Amazon delivery man abandoned my package
After placing an order on Amazon, like many others, the next day the delivery man came to deliver it. However, at the time of delivery, no one was home. Normally, when this happens, the delivery person usually calls by phone to ask if he can leave it somewhere else, or to arrange a new delivery time. But this time it has been different.
Suddenly, I found an email on my phone stating that my package had been delivered. It was strange, since no one was home, and the delivery man had not called on the phone. The surprise was that, when I opened the mail, I could see how the package had been left in a common area of the building. Specifically in a box where the water keys are, a box to which anyone has access.
As expected, and being a fairly busy area, when we returned home, the package was no longer where the delivery man had supposedly left it. And that’s where the problems began.
This is how I claimed and got the money back.
As soon as I got home, the first thing I did was contact Amazon to explain the problem. I used the call option so that they could call me on my mobile as soon as possible without having to wait and to be able to speak directly without using a chat. And the truth is that in less than a minute I was already talking to a salesperson.
I explained the problem to them, told them what had happened, and provided them with evidence (mainly, the message and the photo of the delivery person) that they had left it in a public place, without permission, and without having called by phone before delivering it. And from Amazon they told me that they were opening a file, that they were going to investigate, and that I should call again after 48 hours so they could find a solution.
After 48 hours, I finally called again, and they told me that, indeed, I was right, that the delivery man did something wrong, and that, therefore, I had two options: either they would send me the order again (although there was a lack of stock in one of the products), or they would refund my money to buy something similar again. Obviously, I chose the second, and in a matter of minutes they had already made the deposit, which appeared in the bank 24 hours later.
