Many will remember it for being broadcast in Spain on networks such as Canal Sur, along with other classics such as Shin Chan or Doraemon. The anime turns 20 and, as a celebration, its creators have announced a new installment this March 31.
Many of us were able to see it in Spain as children thanks to the commitment to Japanese anime by several children’s channels. This is Sergeant Keroro, the comedy anime starring frogs that accompanied the childhood of many in our country as well. The official anime account on X, @keroro_anime, has made the announcement accompanying the tweet of an exclusive clip of this new installment, which shows a modernized animation more similar to the current quality. The announcement coincided with the 20th anniversary of the work.
The Sunrise studio (BN Pictures brand) will once again be the one to make this adaptation, and although no release dates have been detailed, it is expected to come out this very 2024. There are also doubts about whether it is a continuation or of a new beginning from 0 for the story based on the manga by Mine Yoshizaki, which continues to be published today and has already published 33 volumes in Japan.

According to the specialized portal Anitrendz, Storyboard artist and director Joji Furuta was responsible for making the 30-second promotional video, produced by BN Pictures with assistance from Studio Bind. The original anime stopped being made in 2011. It was released in 2004 and had 358 episodes over multiple seasons.
The plot of the first volume of the manga is about an alien sergeant in the form of a frog. He has lost his top secret weapon and has been isolated from his world, losing communication with the rest of his platoon. He takes refuge in the Hinata family’s house where, in exchange for shelter, he will have to do some of the housework. From his room he will once again secretly devise new plans for world domination.
