For days now, everything points to Apple TV+ wanting to turn around its position in our country, which is why it is already thinking about forming an alliance with some of the major operators. In this case, it would be included in the entertainment offering of Movistar Plus+ and MasOrange, two giants within the telecommunications sector in Spain.

From Netflix and Max to Disney+, Prime Video or SkyShowtime. All of these streaming platforms are integrated into different operators. However, there is one service that is on the sidelines: Apple TV+. So far, the content of this platform is not integrated into the operators’ combined television rates, although this situation could change sooner rather than later.

Apple TV+ in operator rates

Apple’s streaming platform may be interested in closing deals with some Spanish telecoms. This time, not only is a possible alliance with Movistar Plus+ included, but also with MasOrange.

The situation of Apple TV+ in our country is not the best. It is at the bottom of the list in terms of streaming services, behind Netflix, Prime Video, Max and Disney+. That is why it is interested in increasing the number of subscribers through the content packages offered by different operators.

Apple TV+ and Movistar Plus+

This service is based on its own high-quality productions, but it does not have a large number of customers. So, in the coming months or at the end of the year, it could be integrated into the offer of operators such as Movistar and some MasOrange brands, as could be the case with Orange.

There is no doubt that the clients and fans of this platform have already made their opinion clear on the matter: it should be included in the combined fibre + mobile + TV rates of operators such as Movistar or MasOrange. One of the latest examples is Max, formerly known as HBO Max. It was fully integrated into the catalogue of these operators just a few months ago. In addition, thanks to its incorporation into Movistar Plus+, it went from 400,000 users to having more than 3 million.

Nothing is closed

According to Merca2, analysts specialising in the telecom market know that there have been various contacts between Apple TV+ and operators to incorporate their content through convergent plans. However, nothing has been finalised. At first it was only Movistar Plus+, and now MasOrange is joining this possible alliance, although no reference is made to a specific brand.

In any case, with this possible new integration in the coming months, it would be possible to continue competing between operators to see which one offers a different offer compared to the rest of the competitors. And within the telecommunications business, the entertainment and streaming part has gained a lot of weight in recent times.

And not only is it possible that an agreement will be reached to join forces with different operators, but the option of obtaining more films from the major Hollywood studios to strengthen its streaming catalogue is also being discussed. In this way, they would not only continue to invest in original productions, but would also add new content from other studios.
