Most users who choose to use an office suite on their computers, whether on a personal or professional level, opt for Microsoft’s proposal. We are talking about Office in which we find programs of the importance of Word or Excel. Now, many may wonder if they can use these applications through Cortana to be more productive.

Keep in mind that the software giant has included this voice-controlled assistant in its Windows operating system for a long time. And we say initially because we can also make inquiries in Cortana through the keyboard. But as it happens with the rest of the assistants, for example, of our mobile devices, the interesting thing here is to use the voice. Needless to say, this makes it much easier to use our devices when it comes to multitasking.

Returning to Office, we must bear in mind that in some of its programs, such as Word, the use of text prevails. That is why it is not difficult to think that possibly Microsoft tried to make it easier for us to use the editor through its aforementioned assistant. With this, what we want to tell you is that many of you may be wondering about the possibility of writing texts in Office programs through the voice assistant, Cortana.

On certain occasions this could be very useful, especially for those users who are not very good with the keyboard. However, unfortunately for those interested, we will tell you that at the moment it is not possible to write texts in Office with the voice through Cortana.

Cortana Office

Cortana does not work in Office, these are the reasons

In fact, we can say that at this time Microsoft is gradually abandoning this project in which it initially put so much effort. And it is that contrary to what happens with Android or iOS voice assistants, Windows has not had the expected acceptance at first. One of the main objectives that the Redmond firm initially had was that we could control a large part of the functions of Windows with the voice through the assistant.

However, over the years the firm has realized that Cortana has not finished convincing users on the desktop system. Therefore, although it would have been a good solution for many to implement it in the use of Office and its programs, this is not possible right now. Of course, we can always use, for example, in Office 365 Word, the Dictate function to write text with the voice. But we must bear in mind that we are going to find many errors in the final text, so it is not always the best solution.

As for using Cortana for the purposes that we have mentioned before, it is quite difficult for this to happen in the future with Office. We must bear in mind that even Microsoft has reduced the functionality of its voice assistant in the latest versions of Windows. This means that its use will probably not be extended to other platforms and applications of the firm.
