Digi never ceases to surprise its customers with the introduction of new features and improvements to its rates. The latest is the huge reduction they have made in roaming, making their new prices so affordable that, when you travel abroad, you will enjoy great convenience and significant savings.
Digi has not yet announced it publicly, perhaps because they are waiting for the ideal moment to do so, but the new roaming data rates are already available. And this is causing some users to talk about how they are already being charged new prices that, by all accounts, are fabulous. The operator surprises by going above and beyond to levels that are light years ahead of what many of the country’s main companies provide.
GB of data much cheaper
Digi’s new prices have come into effect this August and represent an internal revolution within the operator, which, as usual, is in line with its other practices. With the service provided by the Romanian operator, we have become accustomed to finding rates so cheap that they border on the extreme. But offering rates so cheap that they seem impossible is part of Digi’s philosophy and what is making it an operator with more and more customers.
In this case, they reduce the costs of GB of data so much in roaming for countries outside the European Union that they are overwhelmingly ahead of their rivals. This will help you travel to many countries without having to worry about the data you use, for example, using applications such as WhatsApp or browsing.
Really cheap rates
First of all, if you compare these Digi roaming prices with those of the major operators, you will notice that the cost difference is really high. The Romanian operator has been reducing its costs to the maximum for a long time and, although it limits its profit margin, it has proven that it is an excellent strategy to continue growing.
That said, to find out what the GB of roaming costs in the country you are going to travel to, the best thing you can do is access the Digi website. In its roaming section, which we have linked at the end of the article, you only have to choose the place you are going to travel to, the country you are going to call, which will probably be Spain, and then if you want to see the prices with taxes or not. After this, click on “see rates” and all the roaming data corresponding to that country will appear, including the mention of the price for each GB of data consumed.
It is possible that you will not be able to get information on the price per GB for some countries, so in that case you will have to contact the operator. This is something that happens with Japan, for example, but it seems that these are isolated situations. Apart from this, and speaking of the countries where Digi’s price has been reduced considerably this month, we find several groups depending on the rate change that has been applied.
The main group is made up of those countries where a GB of data currently costs just 1.50 euros. These are a series of nations including the United States, Switzerland, Morocco, North Macedonia and Serbia. The price of a GB of data before this change is not directly related to its new cost. The reason for this is that some of the places where the price is now 1.50 euros had previous costs of 6 euros or 2.50 euros in other cases. However, there is a certain interest from Digi to unify the costs in the most global way possible.
There are other countries where the new prices are between 2 and 3 euros, so in general you can see this great discount introduced by Digi. To clear up any doubts about whether the country you are going to travel to offers new roaming data prices, it is best to follow the instructions we have given you before and check it on the operator’s website. It remains to be seen whether this move by Digi causes a change in the rest of the operators, given that it is obviously very beneficial for customers.
