Christmas ornament with video
If you are not very fond of traditional decorations for your Christmas tree, you can always give it a twist and modernize the concept thanks to your Raspberry Pi. You can make an ornament that plays videos throughout the day, whether they are Christmas carols, fireplaces, falling snow… or whatever the Christmas spirit suggests.

Christmas tree lights and projector
If you have seen American Christmas movies, you will know about the incredible shows that are put on in each neighborhood. Since the house here does not allow us to carry out such a display of light and color, we still have an opportunity to do it inside the house.
You can create homemade software and configurations to control RGB LED pixels, which is a classic for Raspberry Pi Christmas projects, but by linking this to a projector, you will wow everyone in your house.

Another Christmas classic is to sit in front of the fireplace and eat sweets. However, it may be that if you live in an apartment or house that does not have a chimney, it is not worth installing one just for this Christmas tradition if you are not going to use it for the rest of the winter.
You can create your own with a Raspberry Pi and some LED strips. Beyond the basics of setting up the Raspberry and light strips, novice woodworking knowledge is required and little else. Just don’t expect it to warm you up too or that Santa Claus can get in through it.
Of course, you can always turn to a Smart TV and play one of the thousands of videos out there, but if you don’t want to keep your television busy all day playing this on a loop, this alternative is perfect and less consumption.
Motion detector with Christmas carols
If you cannot go out to receive each of your visitors personally or you simply want to provide a Christmas touch as a welcome, this movement detector can be customized to play your favorite Christmas carol (or that of the visit in question) as long as they pass by in front.
In this simple project, we’ll use a reed switch to trigger a theme tune when a door is opened, and we’ll use a Raspberry Pi as the controller.
