Google One Lite: the new plan that doubles your space in Gmail and Drive for a few cents

A few years ago, when Google started launching some of its cloud services, the free space it provided seemed endless. However, nowadays, our perception in this regard has changed substantially.

As the years go by, we increasingly use remote servers for all kinds of tasks. That’s why the 15 gigabytes of free storage that Google offered us by default at the time, and continues to offer us when we create an account, are starting to fall short. This is something that becomes especially evident if we have been using these platforms from the search giant for several years.

The remote space that we had by default starts to fill up for users around the world. Approximately when we reach 80% of the available space in our account, the company starts sending us warning messages in this regard. In addition, it recommends us to subscribe to one of its paid plans to increase this storage substantially. All of this directly affects services as widely used as Gmail or Google Drive.

For example, we can opt for its Basic plan, which provides us with a total of 100 gigabytes on its remote servers for 1.99 euros per month, belonging to Google One. However, it seems that the company is testing a new subscription plan to increase our account gigabytes. Or rather, to double them for a much more affordable price than the one mentioned above.

This is what Google’s One Lite plan will look like

Specifically, we are referring here to what has been called Google One Lite and which is currently in the testing phase in some regions. It is a new way of doubling the amount of gigabytes available in our account with the search giant, for just a few cents a month.

Google storage plans

This is a subscription plan that is currently being tested in India and provides users with a total of 30 gigabytes for a price of 59 rupees. To give you a better idea of this cost, the exchange rate is around 0.65 euros. There is no doubt that this monthly cost of One Lite would be a very interesting option for those who are starting to run out of space with the free 15 gigabytes.

However, what we don’t know for now is when this new plan will start to spread to the rest of the countries, including Spain. We must bear in mind that for many people paying 1.99 euros per month for the basic plan currently available is an exaggeration. Therefore, this intermediate alternative would become very interesting for many users. At this point, now we just have to wait to see if Google decides to extend its One Lite subscription plan to the whole world.

Hopefully this will be the case and in this way we would have more alternatives when it comes to increasing the storage space of our Google account.
