When we are looking for a job offer, the first thing we usually look at is the salary and then the requirements that are needed to qualify for one of the vacancies. However, we cannot lose sight of the fact that, no matter how attractive they may be, there are certain offers that can be suspicious. But even more unusual is when a stranger contacts us to offer us a job. Be that as it may, the Civil Guard tells us how to act.

As the current situation is, things are not there to be rejecting jobs left and right. If the opportunity comes to you and you see it as feasible, go for it. But we have to be cautious and not rush, because at any moment they could be playing with us and acquire all our data to get a good loot.

For this reason, the Civil Guard has launched a reminder through its official series of instructions. Therefore, if you have not yet experienced this situation, we will tell you all the tricks to avoid cybercriminals.

The job offer scam

Sometimes what seems like your dream job can end in tragedy. It is the new campaign that the Civil Guard is launching to educate Spaniards about the social engineering techniques that cyber attackers use to get hold of all your financial information. In this context, cybercriminals will try to persuade you in different ways to give them all your credentials.

Sometimes they may tell you to send a specific amount of money via bank transfer so they can access your application. There is also the possibility that they will refer you to call a special rate telephone number and keep you on hold for several minutes. But the worst of all the tricks is that they ask you to open a bank account and that you provide them with all the passwords.

How do we manage to avoid these types of situations? The best thing you can do is follow a set of advice that the Security Forces and State Forces have put on the table with the aim of putting an end to this malice once and for all.

How to detect a fake offer?

Scammers will try to deceive us with false job publications that look very similar to the real ones, but there are several conditions that we must take into account to know that what they offer us has nothing to do with reality.

  • Verify the existence and identity of the company online and make sure its domain is legitimate.
  • Be wary of offers that offer you an excessive salary for few working hours and with little effort. Most jobs require academic training or prior work experience.
  • Block at all costs actions that have to do with providing your contact information or requesting transfers.
  • Look for opinions on the network of the company that has offered you the position.
