The clock ticks and users know that time is reducing. This year, 2025, the time comes for the “farewell” of Windows 10 and, before that happens, changes will already be seen. For example, in the month of April there will be a significant number of games that can no longer be accessed from this operating system.

This type of news, unfortunately for many people, will continue to be replicated throughout the current year 2025. The clock is ticking for Windows 10 users and the latest bad news is provided by the company Electronic Arts, one of the main entities in the world of video games.

Goodbye to the Origin platform

Many users already expected that this moment would arrive shortly. This is the closure of Origin, the Electronic Arts application that preceded EA App and which had great importance in the past. The company had already given succession to this service and its use had fallen to a minimum, since all compatible devices had switched to using the new application.

Selection of EA Origin games with their covers

Now Electronic Arts has published a new message asking users to update their operating system to be able to use the EA App as thousands of people are already doing. More precisely, they confirm that Origin will disappear permanently on April 17, 2025 because Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit software. To this they add, in a very direct way, that, if you do not have a 64-bit computer, you will have to use a newer computer.

In addition, the company behind games as famous as Battlefield or the FIFA franchise, now known as EA Sports FC, has mentioned that, if you are still using Origin, you will have to upgrade to the EA app that requires Windows in a 64-bit version. That said, let’s remember that Windows 11 does not have a 32-bit version, so users will find themselves in a difficult situation to continue using their games once April arrives.

Is there any solution?

Although this decision does not come directly from Microsoft, the measure introduced by Electronic Arts is in line with the Windows company’s plans. The goal is for more users to switch to Windows 11 and the pressure of not being able to use their games again would be a possible good reason to do so. Today, the solution that Microsoft is mentioning the most and that sounds the most is as delicate as buying a new computer. It’s not the best option for a large number of users, but in the context of Origin, it will be the way to continue accessing the games.

The good news is that all Origin account data, as well as the games each user had, will be moved to the EA App. Therefore, users who leave Windows 10 behind and move to Windows 11 will now In its 64-bit version, you won’t miss anything. Of course, they will gain performance and discover greater graphical and playable quality in their favorite games. What could be lost would be the mods that were installed, while the company also recommends that users who are going to take the leap save their games in the cloud.

What you might be wondering is whether, through Windows compatibility mode, you could use the application in its 64-bit version on your 32-bit computer. It’s an idea that sounds convincing, but it runs into the problem of knowing that, definitively, Origin is going to disappear. Therefore, there would be no solution to continue playing on your Windows 10 32-bit computer. This means saying goodbye to a multitude of games, such as sagas such as Need for Speed, The Sims and other well-known sagas such as NBA Live or Star Wars.
