Completely unexpectedly, Movistar has informed some of its customers of an increase in their Fusion rates. These users will find a monthly price increase that will apply starting next May. How much more will you have to pay if you still have your contract with one of these classic rates that are already discontinued?
The share of Fusion rates, although they can no longer be contracted, is not exempt from the price increases that occur in Movistar. After all, even if users don’t like them, there are situations in which they are understandable. In the case at hand, this price increase, although it was unexpected because it was suddenly announced in the last invoice, was one that could be seen coming since the operator recently updated some of its prices in miMovistar rates.
You will pay 5 euros more per month
The increase is identical for all rates that are affected by the price change. There is a total of 5 euros that are added to the charge that you were already paying every month and that you will have to assume unless you make the decision to change your contract to another of the rates available from the operator.
The five euros are added to the cost that the Fusion rates already increased at the beginning of the year in parallel to the price increase that all the operator’s other rates had. At that time, the increase was justified by the annual increase to which we are already accustomed and which, yes, this 2024 was a little below what other operators had raised. In any case, customers can already see that there were no reasons to celebrate in view of the five additional euros that they will have to pay from the 13th of next May. But what is the reason for the price increase and what rates exactly are affected within the different Merger contracts?
The reason for the increase
First of all, the rates that increase in price are the following in order from cheapest to most expensive and with the new price in parentheses: Total X2 (182 euros), Total Plus (196 euros), Total Plus X4 (213 euros) , Total Plus + 4 lines (223 euros), Total Plus X2 + 4 lines (235 euros) and Total Plus X4 + 4 lines (240 euros). There are a total of six rates that find a common determining factor: they include DAZN among the services they provide to clients.
And what does this have to do with it? It’s very simple. DAZN also had a recent increase in its rates that led to its different packages having a higher cost. Although initially some subscribers of operators such as Movistar might have imagined that they would save a lot when enjoying the sports streaming service, in the end the Telefónica operator has adjusted its prices. This, as we say, was to be expected.
Days ago, the new costs of Movistar rates with DAZN packages were announced in the different proposals that are currently available for contracting (those that had the Motor and Sports Total packs), and now the effect of the shock wave of the increase price also reaches Fusion. It is an understandable measure, although it is obvious that Movistar customers who still use these Fusion contracts are surprised to see the increase.
In any case, as Movistar explains, this price increase is necessary so that the operator can maintain the high-quality connectivity experience that characterizes them and also provide their users with the best content offering. All of this is included in the decisions that the operator has taken in other cases to maintain the well-known quality of the service they offer to their customers.
