The American institution, which is already usually publishing content in all types of social networks to reach the maximum audience, takes another step in its media strategy and announces that it will make direct on Twitch from the International Space Station. The American institution intends to approach the new generations that consume streaming on Twitch.

NASA has already made numerous direct on other platforms such as YouTube and also from Twitch, although this will be the first time they make an broadcast from the International Space Station (EEI). NASA will make an exclusive retransmission for this channel, which will be “the first of many”, next Wednesday, February 12, scheduled for 11:45 EST (17: 45h from the Iberian Peninsula).

During the event, the spectators will listen to NASA’s astronaut Don Petit, who is currently aboard the laboratory in orbit, and NASA’s astronaut Matt Dominick, who recently returned to Earth after the CREW-8 mission of the Agency, they count from the agency.

Brittany Brown, the director of the Digital Communications and Technology Division of the Agency, said that “in addition to our space walks, releases and landings, we will organize more exclusive Twitch transmissions such as this«. “We have spoken with digital creators on Twitchcon about their desire for transmissions designed taking into account their communities, and we have heard them,” Brown celebrates.

From the agency they will try to promote interest in science and space on Twitch, a medium that they have also chosen for the ease of receiving and answering live comments from the spectators, thus favoring reciprocity and closeness.

NASA at the International Space Station

NASA astronauts will talk about daily life aboard the space station and research carried out in microgravity. In addition, the event will highlight the ways in which Twitch users can interact with NASA, including citizen science projects and science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs designed to inspire Artemisa generation.

Actually, NASA is not the first space institution to perform directly of this type. The European Space Agency (ESA) and other observatories have already used these ways to connect live with curious and technology lovers.

A new space channel

Space lovers already have one more reason to follow the NASA official channel on Twitchwhich already has more than 1 million followers, so as not to miss future transmissions of this type that will allow us to see more proximity how life is at approximately 400 kilometers from the earth. We also see that, despite the negative figures that have been ballasting Twitch in recent months, it remains a channel in which institutions and content creators invest.

“NASA is committed to the exploration of new digital platforms to interact with new audiences,” they confirm from the agency. Last year, NASA presented its own transmission platform, NASA+, and redesigned the Nasa.gov and Science.

We can also follow NASA already the ESI in other networks so as not to lose images and news about research beyond our atmosphere.
