Netflix has spent millions to be able to broadcast live a sport with which it hopes to sweep from January 2025

It’s already done. Netflix has set a release date for the live sport in which it has invested more millions in this year 2024 and which we know will premiere in the first days of January 2025. The platform has no intention of wasting time and wants to change everything the way its service is used to view live events.

Until recently we expected that the year 2025 would be a time when Netflix would surprise with live sports, but we still had to confirm a lot of information. For example, there had not even been a more specific statement made in which it was clear that WWE content would also be seen in Spain and not only in the United States. We took it for granted in view of the million-dollar investment, but there was always a small doubt. Now everything has been confirmed and we can now get ready to vibrate with wrestling again.

A clean mess since January

The confirmation comes from Netflix’s own interface in Spain. If you go to the future releases section, you can see that the WWE show listings are now available (you can also search for “WWE” and find it). And not only that, but two more programs have now been added to what had been previously confirmed. Because, at first, we thought that we would only see WWE Raw in Spain and now it is confirmed that WWE Smackdown and WWE NXT will also be broadcast live. This means that you will be wrestling until you drop and that there will be no regular competitive match that will not be available within your subscription.

WWE Smackdown will premiere first. Then, that same week at the beginning of January, it will be WWE Raw’s turn. And a day later WWE NXT will play. Taking into account the ability that WWE has previously demonstrated to capture the interest of children, adolescents and adults in Spain, it is to be imagined that it will become a success again. Of course, it will depend on some key factors, such as whether Netflix covers the broadcast of these programs with derivative products that make fans go crazy. After all, those who lived through the glory days of the WWF in the 80s remember perfectly the craze that arose with action figures of wrestlers. In their first weekend on sale they sold out so quickly that the only fighter that ended up being found on the shelves was poor Akeem.

Searching for WWE within Netflix

If Netflix enhances that facet of WWE and makes current wrestlers become idols and villains once again, it will be a purchase that will bring unprecedented success to the service. At the same time, the platform would also have to specify who it is going to put in charge of the comments in Spanish. One option is for the programs to be broadcast live without comments in our language, but knowing everything they have invested, it would be a waste. It is clear that you need good commentators for these programs to end up being successful.

Of course, since they are live, they will be broadcast at the wee hours of the morning, so what will possibly happen to a greater extent is that they will be seen on a delayed basis the next day. As usual, the shows will be available for us to watch as many times as we want.

Who participates in these competitions?

Before jumping to WWE Smackdown and WWE Raw, we must not forget that, in WWE NXT, the Spanish Axiom works, a very popular wrestler who has even become a champion. The man from Madrid is triumphing in American wrestling and with this broadcast on Netflix he will finally ensure that his fights can be enjoyed by all Spanish users with ease. Furthermore, for Netflix it will surely end up becoming an excellent resource when it comes to promoting and making this sport known in our country.

Speaking of WWE in general, today we can see great fighters like Cody Rhodes, Liv Morgan, Jey Uso, Candice LeRae, Trick Williams, Asuka, Booker T, Brock Lesnar, Carlito, CM Punk, Cora Jade, Dragon Lee or Erik . Not all of them are in regular competition or some, the most veteran ones, appear infrequently, but the WWE roster of wrestlers currently offers an excellent repertoire of faces. Furthermore, it would not be surprising if Netflix takes advantage of the premiere in January to bring back other legendary fighters. After all, let’s not forget that the thumbnail image of the miniseries Vince McMahon The WWE Titan includes the mythical Hulk Hogan, which is clearly serving as an attraction for viewers.

Other names that are currently linked to WWE include John Cena, Logan Paul, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns, Sheamus or The Miz. With all these names related to WWE in one way or another, they are sure to make a big impact on the audience.
