On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the historic Warcraft saga, the American developer Blizzard has announced a long list of new products and updates, among which are the remasterings of the video games Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, the two first titles in the saga, originally released in 1994 and 1995.
These new editions will allow the user to choose between viewing the original graphics or the remastered ones, allowing players to relive the nostalgia of these titles in the way they prefer. In addition to better graphics, the new versions include interface improvements with tooltips and health bars, as well as a new mission selection screen and greater unit selection. Improvements have also been added to the controls section and the speed of the game has been increased.
In addition to these games, Blizzard has released other new features, such as patch 2.0 for Warcraft III: Reforged, an update that improves lighting, atmosphere and interface. Included with this patch is the option to view Warcraft III games in HD, along with more customization options for shortcuts and a new hierarchy.
On the other hand, the company has reported that the Warcraft Rumble game, until now only available for mobile devices, will have a version for PC. The beta is expected to arrive on December 10.
This coincides with the arrival of season 10 of Warcraft Rumble, which will introduce several new features: dual leaders will arrive, reintroducing the already well-known character of Sylvanas Windrunner with the possibility of leading the families of the Horde and the undead. Later, the characters Anub’Arak, Orgrim and Malfurion will arrive.
WoW news
At the same time, the best-known World of Warcraft (WoW) saga is also celebrating its 20th anniversary, and for this reason, Blizzard is going to release an update for the title World of Warcraft: The War Within. It consists of the introduction of the new Mermaid Island, available from December, as “a new outdoor environment full of mysteries and rewards” in which players will be able to improve the characteristics of alternative characters in time for the new season of The War Within.
Another new feature coming to this title is Undetermined, a new content update for the Minahonda underground location. With this update, players will continue trying to stop Xal’atath’s evil plans, while learning more about goblin culture.
Closer on the calendar, we will have the launch of World of Warcraft Classic 20th Anniversary, a version of that title that will allow us to recover the experience of the original game.
Blizzard has announced that, in early 2025, the final patch for World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic will be published, which will be called “Twilight Hour”, an extension that will allow players to access a Dragon Soul raid dungeon, where they will have the mission to destroy the enemy of the expansion, Deathwing. Finally, for summer 2025, the arrival of Mists of Pandaria Classic is expected.
